This is what I plan on making a five part series on the importance of living in the NOW! The message that Jesus brought was that the Kingdom was near and would be upon us SOON. That SOON came nearly 2,000 years ago and yet people are still looking for it. We should be living the Kingdom life here on earth; however, over 2,000 years the church, through it’s religious teachings, have postponed what should not be, and isn’t IF we’ll awaken to the reality of the Kingdom. “They Kingdom come ON EARTH as it is in HEAVEN!” So, let’s take a 2,000 year journey (in five commentaries) and see how e got off track.
There was an urgency and imminence to the message that Jesus taught about the Kingdom. Exactly how much He knew, by the Spirit, I have not a clue; however, it was obvious that He felt the Kingdom was NEAR as that’s what He said several times. I use the phrase imminence (to His message) because of His immanence with the Father.
How I long for more!
For the first few decades after the death of Jesus (and resurrection), everyone was expecting to see His return. For the Jews He would return as the Messiah and set up the earthly Kingdom. For the Gentiles, they expected all sorts of things, but miracles were sure to accompany Jesus as they had before His death. And since Jesus overcame death they too would be able to do the same.
There was an eager expectation and anticipation of His return.
As Acts 1 shows us, many were left looking up at the sky, hoping to see His return any day. They could feel it. The expectancy was in the air. Jesus would save the day- very soon! Unfortunately, they did not comprehend or understand that the Kingdom had already come! The Holy Spirit was with them, in the midst of them. The power and presence was available. But let us not be too hard on them for 2,000 years later there are hundreds of millions that still don’t understand it.
Many are still yearning for the rapture! 
As Jesus said on the cross. IT IS FINISHED!
