A lot of thoughts came to me as I wrote the six part series on Adam & Eve last week. An unusual thought came as I was reading and reading again how Eve was NOT formed in the image of God, if you take the second creation story LITERALLY: which I don’t. Eve was formed from the rib, bone, image of man. My May 19th commentary reveals my thinking on the whole Adam & Eve, male-female paradigm. But that has now led me to this.
This is the first of several (currently 7 are planned, Lord willing ) commentaries that I need to write to express what I think a Christian’s view on women should be. In reality, it’s what Jesus demonstrated, and what Paul did NOT demonstrate.
I am using the title page as “Queendom of God” which I am borrowing from Matthew Fox (God bless his courageous fight with the Catholic church that got him ex-communicated). He uses Kingdom and Queendom as one and the same.
God is Spirit!
So, if God is Spirit, how can we put a gender tag on Spirit? God is neither male (King over a land) nor female (Queen over a land). At any rate it should rile up the patristic chauvinists, and hopefully give some encouragement to those second-rate citizens called females.
There is neither male nor female, as Gal. 3:28 says, in the fourth dimension.
So, I’m going to just use today’s post as a way of announcing what’s to come. The course I plan on following is to take a generic historical look (briefly) at women in historical society. then bring it to the Old Testament, review some New Testament foundational points, look at Paul’s writings, compare various additions, deletions, and out right manipulations of the Scribes down through the years , and then end with what Jesus said- which IS the WAY it IS!
So, maybe 4-7 days of this stuff, eh?
Why not! We’re ALL to be FREE!
