Eleven hours on a plane in one day can conjure up a lot of questions about life, fate, and God. And as one travels outside the United States, one is reminded of how diverse our society is becoming. Thus I couldn’t help but revisit that Scripture that causes us so much pain- as Christians. You know John 14:6.

Something doesn’t have to be FACTUAL to be entirely TRUE!
Here is where a lot of Christians get hung up. I did at least. Let me use one illustration- Jonah. As a child, I believed in Santa Claus until I was around six or seven. I think I believed in the tooth fairy about the same length of time. It was much earlier in life when I gave up on the idea that the cow jumped over the moon. But many of my childhood Bible stories took decades to disengage: not that I was in a hurry or wanted to, but that I needed to in order to grow my faith and mature my walk in Him. That’s just me of course.

Having been in the full time ministry for nearly twenty years now, I’ve come to a conclusion that there are way too many who call themselves “Christians” who are really more like “closet agnostics“. And there are a few who are truly “closet atheists” . You probably know that atheists don’t believe there is a God while agnostics believe one can niether prove or disprove a God, so they are iffy – not anti God.

Looking for a little photism and audition as Quadragesima begins?
No, I’ve not been drinking or up too late causing my typing to be scrambled (I don’t have to be up late for that). Lent is an English word but it is celebrated of course in non English nations. In Biblical numerology 40 is a number for devotion and discipline. And therein is the substance of this season that begins today- Ash Wednesday. Will you devote yourself to Christ once more, in a new and deeper way? One way to accomplish that is to DENY (fast) yourself something for those forty days (discipline). It’s just morning #1 and water isn’t really making the grade as a substitute for my triple grande extra hot latte from Starbucks!

March 5, 2006 – “I know what it says, but what does it really mean?”
Are you going to heaven when you die?
Christians in America seem to be more interested in the after life than they are in the NOW life. Changing the normal paradigm, let me ask a question. Since we have so little time in this life as compared to eternity, why aren’t we giving more significance to this life? I think all would agree that whatever concept we have of heaven, it has to fall into the category of a no-brainer; not full of a lot of worries or problems.
So, what’s up with THIS LIFE?

This morning as I was having my quiet time, I heard many things. And it was a reminder for me. I’d just come out of a very FULL NINE DAYS wherein I taught two Discovery Hours, two Sunday messages, and one Men’s Discipleship Training Class. And in the middle of that I spent tree days with Rick Godwin out of town. What that dictates is poor quality time with God, and little quiet time. Sure, I spent time journaling and praying as usual, and really, not very much less than usual. But there were always these “other thoughts” competing for His time!
Have you been there? Are you there NOW?

It’s been a couple of days since I said anything controversial. Forgive me.
Of course that all depends upon one’s perspective now doesn’t it? Anyway, while on the plane flying back home Friday, I was pondering how long it had been since I delved into the Book of Revelation. You see, I can get controversial there and no one would know it. ![]()

Go Ahead!
Have a mistake on me!
For some 19 years now, I have said that phrase on numerous occasions. It’s what I think the Father is saying to His children. How else can we grow? How else do we learn? Make sure you read it right. I didn’t say have a sin on me. Paul told Philemon, to put Onesimus’s sins on his account. And Jesus is saying the same to the Father for us.
