The Jesus Model

Here’s a thought that I think came from my spirit man. We all know that God is love: those that fully comprehend the New Testament of course. Oh yes, and those who do not think the OT is literal and that God got His kicks by killing men, women, children, babies, and all cattle. Wow! When you see, hear, and understand what Jesus is saying, it’s no wonder the early Christians were divided on if there were two gods or one. Glad I’m 2,000 years away from that paradigm. I’m having a hard enough time dealing with my 62 year hallway (can you say liminal space?). Continue reading ‘The Jesus Model’

What Am I?

This is a seldom asked question. Most often the question is WHO! Who am I? I am a mechanic, a lawyer, doctor, janitor, housewife, judge, teacher, mother, etc. And, all of those WHO that I am can change. Many are temporary. I was an electrician, but NOW I am retired. Bill Clinton WAS the president of the United States; however, today he is someone else. His WHO has changed. But, the WHAT is a totally different bird. Continue reading ‘What Am I?’

It’s Not Too Late

It’s a new time for whomsoever is interested!

God is always offering us a new deal, a “do over”, or a “make good” opportunity. We seldom think we need one. Who has time for a personal awakening to spiritual realities? People are just trying to catch up on their credit cards so they can buy more stuff to put in the storage shed they’ve been leasing.

And while we continue going about doing more and more, there is that emptiness of soul or purpose that we feel from time to time, especially late at night as we fall into bed wondering how we’ll make it through tomorrow on only 5 hours of sleep.

What Is Spiritual Liminal Space?

Liminal space is that hallway between two rooms, a journey from here to there. More specifically it is generically called a “threshold“. We are spirit beings. We’ve been thrown onto this planet and told to leanr how to do life. We’re on our way to living an eternal spirit life. But first, we must maneuver “liminal space”- the NOW in these physical bodies. What Is Beyond Theism All About?

The rationality of of theism no longer fills the bill. The sliding scale as I see it, runs from atheism (there is no God), to Christian deism, or deism (there is a God but He’s not involved in our life), to Christian theism, or plain ole theism (There is a God and he intervenes in our lives from time to time). Let me add two more terms. Dualism says there are two gods (good and evil). And then there is supernatural theism (when God steps in and does the miraculous). I’m being brief and simplistic and not trying to write a doctoral thesis here. Continue reading ‘What Is Beyond Theism All About?’

Individualism Vs. Collectivism

Hugo Chavez may say “Yankee go home” from the podium at the United Nations; however, this is a country where everyone wants to come. In America, individualism is rewarded, and rugged individualism is highly praised. I would contend though that without the collective social constructs of liberty, freedom, capitalism, and, etc. individualism would not get you very far. Continue reading ‘Individualism Vs. Collectivism’
