What’s Your View Of God?

Most people say things about how they view God, what their belief is in God is, and yet they have never really questioned WHY they believe as they do, or WHERE they got those views! Unfortunately, living within the deeply divided religious groups that we do, loyalty to ones denomination trumps even asking a question about God! Questions scare those who have never thought about asking why- to anything. Continue reading ‘What’s Your View Of God?’

Made Up Stories Work!

You can get into a real fight if you doubt any of the Biblical stories of old. I didn’t say you thought they were not true- just that you might have some doubt! In an arena (religion) where one is called upon to have faith, Hebrews 11:1, which means you can’t be certain, all of a sudden you must be certain. If I am certain, for sure, absolutely and positively sure, is that really the definition of faith? Continue reading ‘Made Up Stories Work!’

Salvation Is Transformation!

I am amazed as what is passed off as salvation these days. It’s no wonder Billy Graham feels that by far the majority of people going to church these days, who think they are headed to heaven, are not saved! I mean what’s “headed to heaven” mean anyway? For me, if the after-life, if heaven is the plan, the purpose of speaking a few words before some ecclesiastical body isn’t going to make a difference. You’d be better off going back a couple hundred years and buy some indulgences. I’m not saying I know who is saved and who is not: only God knows that; however, if we do truly know them by “their fruits” , well then, some things are too obvious! Continue reading ‘Salvation Is Transformation!’

Beliefs Don’t Save Us!

Say what? :-)
As the philosopher has said, “I have believed in so many things that simply are not true.” The world is full of belief systems and depending upon where you live, you can get killed if you don’t agree with the prevailing belief system (can you say Iraq?). Lest we fall prey to pride, the same thing exists in America except you’re just ostracized, rejected, and made an outcast- not killed. We’re much more civilized. Really? Continue reading ‘Beliefs Don’t Save Us!’

Two Religions - One Bible?

How does this work? Top tell you the truth I simply don’t know,. I just know that when I look at the American Christian landscape I see a very bitter camp and it’s not between Protestants and Catholics. Whatever skirmishes there were between the Pope on one side, and those who believe in the “priesthood of the believer” on the other side is small caomapred to the current stand-off. Continue reading ‘Two Religions - One Bible?’

The Kingdom Of God

You’ll get lots of answers when you ask the question, what is the Kingdom of God. Some of the more common answers would be: Gods’ rule and reign here on earth, a world on earth like that in heaven, a religious sytem, Jesus in charge, and a theocratic government. Few would say that the Kingdom of God was shorthand for living your divine nature in the now; except me of course. Continue reading ‘The Kingdom Of God’

Being Still- Not Still Born

There’s a difference akin to DAY and NIGHT between knowing about God and experiencing Him! I spent a whole lot of my life gathering “facts” about God. We are so blessed (maybe) by having so many different computer translations of the Bible. I can’t believe that I used to flip through pages of this antique called a Concordance, looking for words, phrases and meanings. I’ve attended many a seminar on hermeneutics, Biblical interpretation, exegesis, and history of this and that. Biblical hermeneutics under Kevin Connor and Greek New Testament under Spiros Zodhiates gave me all I needed to KNOW! I mean I had (still have) a Zodhiates Bible! Continue reading ‘Being Still- Not Still Born’

How Many Does It Take?

The national political-military debate is over how many service men we should have in Iraq? Does anyone know? How many righteous people would it have taken to save Sodom & Gommorah? We’ll never know because Abraham stopped at ten (remember Gen. 18?), just when he was on a roll. Isn’t that they way it is on so many thing in life? Continue reading ‘How Many Does It Take?’

Why Are You Cast Down?

Psalms 42:5 asks the question as to why we are so downcast? Why is the soul so into having a pity party? What’s the problem here, why all of these sighs, groans, and moans? I know, you’re late on the car payment again, you’re going to fall behind on the mortgage once more. It’s tiring isn’t it? Isn’t it! Continue reading ‘Why Are You Cast Down?’

Waiting On God

If there is anything we usually don’t do well in America, it’s to wait on God- for anything. Not only do we not do well at waiting, we do even worse at demanding. Can one LOVE God and not USE God? The quick and ready answer is of course- sure! But when’s the last time you really looked at your prayer life? One of the best ways to examine your prayer life is to journal. Then it’s all right there in black ink- unless you use blue. Continue reading ‘Waiting On God’
