The Forsaken Trinity?

I grew up in a denomination that did not believe in speaking in tongues. It should therefore not surprise anyone that we also didn’t believe in drinking wine, dancing, co-educational swimming, or a hundred other things that seem so silly to me now. And we we definitely had to cast demons out of anyone with a homosexual tendency, while not paying too much attention to the head deacons misgivings. More seriously though was the lack of power because while their was a nod of agreement with the concept of a trinity, there was little mention of Him- the Holy Spirit. We Need A New Lens!

We’re not seeing very well these days. Is it our interpretation of what we’re looking at- looking for? Or, are we using outdated and malfunctioning lenses? We can’t properly explore life, make the journey that we need to travel without good vision. And if you’re a Christian, then how you see Jesus is the most important of all considerations. Dealing With Diversity

Our world is shrinking!

There are so many religions, lifestyles, and philosophies to choose from nowdays, what’s a person to do? Can one religion say to all the rest, you don’t count, yours isn’t the right approach, you’re not following the truth? Who has a market on the truth? There may be only a dozen or so major religions in the world; however, there are thousands of smaller ones. Do we discount a religion because it’s not in the top ten numbers-wise? Does a religion have to have a half billion followers before it’s credible? One billion? How do we deal with such divseristy? Continue reading ‘Dealing With Diversity’

In His Timing- His Way!

It’s so easy to say you’re not in control and then go about being in charge. False humility is such a deceptive foe. Let’s face it. We’ve all learned how to manipulate. We’ve done it so well that we’ve convinced ourselves that it’s really good for us to be in control since we know what’s best for everyone. After all we’re fair and we know what God’s will is for every situation. What a shame to let such a gift go to waste. Our religion is the only one(onle true one of course)! Our denomination is the right one. Our defintion of God is the pure and perfect one. And we’re so blessed to know and have it all that it would really be a sin to not make make sure that everyone else thought like we do. Continue reading ‘In His Timing- His Way!’

Thankful & Grateful

As the four day holiday weekend comes to a close, I sit for my fourth night in a row, by my fireplace (outside), enjoying the cooler weather and grateful to God for a needed rest. Tomorrow, it will be time to go back at the things normal people do every week. They are normal aren’t they? Besides, the forecast for the next three days is rain. What have a I gleaned over the four days? Continue reading ‘Thankful & Grateful’

Birds Of A Feather

Who we run with in large part determines our destiny. I have always tried to out myself into the best of company and when I say that I am not talking about those categories that many would deem elite. I like to associate with people of integrity whose lives speak louder than words. I want to be with those who don’t need constant ego stroking, but more often than not know their weaknesses and work with them. I like people who live on the edge and constantly try to better the world for others- more than themselves. The choices we make of who we are around most of our lives, speaks volumes about whom we will become. Continue reading ‘Birds Of A Feather’

Style Vs. Substance

You probably know where I’ll land on this issue if you know me at all. I’ll wind up on And-Also! So, now back to the beginning. In America today churches feel that they have to compete with the entertainment industry to attract a crowd- and it’s working for many of the large churches that can afford the dollars to do the dance. And while people come away feeling good, having been entertained, where’s the transformation? It’s as though transformation isn’t even a consideration. Continue reading ‘Style Vs. Substance’

Control Freaks

I used to think I was not a controlling person. Silly me! I really wasn’t when it came to others. C’est la view! But, when it came to little ole ME, well now, this is how I’ll do it thank you very much! Amazing how blinded we can be, especially when it’s to our benefit. Know what I mean? Continue reading ‘Control Freaks’

Give It Up!

You’ve probably heard it a dozen times, “Let go and let God“. There’s probably a reason one keeps hearing it: we’re not doing it. For example, I used to think that transformation was something “I did“. What a laugh. It probably makes God smile as well. I mean if we could “do it” (transformation), why haven’t we? We can’t and here’s why. Continue reading ‘Give It Up!’

Staying On The Way

Early Christians were known as people of the Book, people of the Way. Both of these descriptions are interesting to say the least. I love the Bible. More than a book, it’s a library of books: sixty six to be exact if you are a Protestant; more if you’re Catholic. Regardless of how many have you ever thought it strange that the emphasis was on a book. Seriously think about it for a moment. Continue reading ‘Staying On The Way’
