A Spiritual Jailbreak

Psychologists generally agree that change initially brings regression. We all want a new car, new dress, new job, new this and that, but please, don’t ask me to “learn” anything NEW! Don’t challenge what I now know, or think to be true, with some contrary, off the wall stuff. I’m just settling in. Sorry Charlie. Continue reading ‘A Spiritual Jailbreak’

Conversion Or Connection?

I am not pretending that I have a “thus saith the Lord” on salvation. I don’t know how any human could know. There are surely some sign posts and clues: however, ultimately you have to leave that to the Lord. And I suspect we have more than a few “angels unaware” in our midst that we’re treating very badly. One day we’ll know for sure, but for now we can only study the Scriptures (II Tim. 2:15) and try to treat each person as Jesus would. But, I do have this thought to share. Transformation Not Reformation

That which Luther did not accomplish, maybe by the grace of God this generation can begin anew and not get side-tracked. I don’t know what the “vehicle” will be if not “vehicles“. We need everyone in the fight. As Jesus said, “If they’re not against us, let them alone”. We need everyone in this battle. Let’s not divide any more. Church Coercion & Control

Its mostly subtle; however, in some places it is so blatant that you’d think it’s not happening- but it is. And living in “capitalistic America” makes it even more so! Grace is said to be free and un-merited, but here are the things you must do to receive God’s grace: join the church, repent of sins, attend the orientation class, etc., etc., etc. Spencer Burke says, “Religion cannot be advanced by coercion, and wherever that tactic is attempted, it is usually rejected by all but the weakest of souls.” And there are a lot of weak souls! Chasing Religious Regimens

Ah the folly of it all. For how long have we been seeking to fulfill the desires of the Spirit by thinking it could fulfilled by some sort of religious regimen. Do this and do that and all will be well with your soul. Soul? Maybe! Spirit? No way Jose! Being a better person is an admirable human trait: it should be desired. However, to think that you will find God, transformation, and that peace that passes all understanding by good works is laughable. Well, maybe sorrowful. Here’s why. Beyond XYZ

January 27, 2007 - You can’t steal second base with your foot on first. You can’t make mayo without breaking some eggs. And you can’t have the fullness of the Kingdom by staying where we are now. So much more lies beyond what we now know, think and are! If you want more you must go beyond your NOW state!
