We Really Are All ONE!

I don’t want to go too deep here; however, there just might not be any options (as you see it). Opt out anywhere of course. :-)
If you try to put all the pieces of the puzzle together, it seems they all add up to ONE! Christ is in me, I am in Him (John 6:56), the Spirit is in me (I Cor. 3:16- I Cor. 6:19), we dwell in Him and He lives in us (I John 4:13), etc. And, it is the prayer of Jesus that we become ONE as He and the Father are ONE (John 17:11)! Let’s dive. Continue reading ‘We Really Are All ONE!’

Feeling Spiritual?

I don’t think so.

There are times when I feel that I am closer to God tha other times. There are moments when I think the anointing is with and or upon me. I have moments of ecstasy and dark night so the soul. But, to say that one feels spiritual, I simply cannot relate to that. The process of maturing in the Spirit isn’t an even acclerating line. It’s filled with pauses, surges, and dead spots! Transcendental Consciousness?

Say what?

I know, it’s really troubling isn’t it? In religion, transcendence is a condition or state of being that surpasses, and is independent of, physical existence. In philosophy, the adjective transcendental and the noun transcendence are derived from the word’s literal meaning (from Latin), of climbing or going beyond. I should probably be writing this column under the Beyond Theism (click here) site. However, we all need to be stretched from time to time. so count this as one of those! It really won’t hurt that much. Continue reading ‘Transcendental Consciousness?’

Cocooning For Calmness!

Cocooning is a relatively new phrase tha’s often times attributed to Faith Popcorn, a futurist, and tredny marketing guru. Among her predictions for 2006 were two macro trends: Cocooning, our desire to shelter ourselves from the harsh realities of our world; and Fantasy Adventure, our hunger for the new and unconventional. I’m all for both but I’d change the definition of the former. Here’s what I see. Continue reading ‘Cocooning For Calmness!’

Celebrate Diversity!

If there was a major theological thread that ran through Paul’s teachings it was that we should rejoice in our differences and in essence celebrate our differences. Can you say Jews and Gentiles? Alan Jones, dean of Grace Cathedral in San Francisco put it this way,”I am convinced that many long for an inclusive community that is liberating and not confining and in which they are allowed to think for themselves.” Amen……but! Continue reading ‘Celebrate Diversity!’

Ba A “Know-It-All”

This might come as a surprise to many; however, the Bible is clear that you can be uneducated and unsophisticated in theological matters and still be one of the smartest spiritualists on the planet. We send too many missionaries to so-called backward countries where the natives are more closely in sync with God than the missionaries. Amazing itsn’t it. Sad, really. Continue reading ‘Ba A “Know-It-All”’

We Are ALL Theologians!

When I meet someone new for the first time they usually inquire as to what to call me. Hey, that’s much better than the names I get called without my permission!

Should they call me pastor? Brother Ernie? My response is to ask what they called the Apostle Paul- simply Paul! I am sure someone called him brother Paul or apostle Paul; however, I don’t put a profession in front of a friend: electrician John or plumber David. And? Continue reading ‘We Are ALL Theologians!’

Transforming Grace

January 19, 2007 - We need to awaken to the incredible reality of grace—which is bigger than religion, and far greater than the laws of causality. While the world runs on karma, God’s grace overpowers and negates reaping and sowing. So, why not embrace grace and chuck what the world offers?

Under House Arrest?

I was watching the movie, Diary Of A Mad Black Woman recently. It’s produced by Tyler Perry who is just one incredible individual. In the movie Madea has to be put under house arrest which means she needs to wear an ankle monitor. Out of no where I heard this voice whisper, “she’s the church“. So, what’s it mean that the church is under house arrest? Continue reading ‘Under House Arrest?’

# 8- The Church Has No Sword!

If anyone was granted the sword it was the world, government, and civil authorities, NOT the church. The church was given the tool of LOVE to win the world. Doesn’t seem good enough does it? Maybe that’s why the church has embraced the MYTH that it’s the keeper of world order, the spiritual sheriff, if you will- by the sword! Continue reading ‘# 8- The Church Has No Sword!’
