It seems that a day doesn’t go by when I don’t see in me or in someone else the Rob Bell, “Brickianity” mentality. Notice that I said “in me” as well. We are creatures of habit. Add to that the fact that the ego doesn’t like to feel challenged or threatened in any way, and “We have A Problem Houston.” The ego usually only agrees with what it has already thought. Or if there is something NEW, and it comes up with the idea first, then that’s okay of course. Ahh, the ego (or what’s called man’s will). Continue reading ‘Don’t Take My Brick!’

Life is lived inside out. And yet too often it’s those external things that get to us as a result of what one of the “inside forces” cause us to believe. The two forces that direct our lives are the ego will and God’s will. The false self and the real self are in a constant battle for our attention and affections. While both direct traffic from the insde, the ego always makes the outside world look terrible.
So, you’re setting in an office waiting for an interview or appointment for more than 30 minutes- over due. HOW you respond to that is all that matters. That the interview is late is of no effect, but that it irritates you (your ego) makes all the difference in the world - to your day and attitude. It’s not the fact, the event, but your response to it. Continue reading ‘Inside Jobs’
What I am about to write has been birthed out of a comment I made on Spiritual Liminal Space and you can read that by clicking on the it here after you’ve read this post. Sometimes I become so overwhelmed by His presence that I can do nothing but sit, and often times silently let the tears trickle down my face. I liken those moments to the Mount of Transfiguration wherein you just don’t want to leave the incredible space of clouds and love. But, you know life must go on. So, this is a “going on” from where I’ve been. Isn’t every moment though? Continue reading ‘Our Foolish Egos’
February 16, 2007 - The transfer that took place in Gen. 2:7 has been largely missed by religion because the consciousness transfer was more than intellectual. It was spiritual, wherein we became united and one with God. The role of the church is to get us on the path to experiencing that, not just organizing theories about it.
I embraced the thought way too long. All my teachers told me there was a lake of fire where I would be punished for all of eternity (can you say a long, long time?). Punishment is really not the definition for what they were describing. Torture was a better assessment. And torture is NOT God! Continue reading ‘# 11- Eternal Damnation’
People just want to be loved!
And people also have a lot of questions. More and more the questions have to do with comparative religions. The diversity that exists in America today, and world wide, is an “in your face” this is what I believe, why do you believe what you do? Saying “Because the Bible tells me so.” isn’t treating the questioner with enough integrity or respect. And it in no way is faithful to the Spirit of I Peter 3:15. So, let me give you a head start on this principle by asking you to practice your loving answers to these questions you’ll find in the world, if not next week. Continue reading ‘The Challenge Of I Peter 3:15′
Liminal space is defined as a threshold, hallway, or transitory space from something to something. It seems to me that we’ve gone about as far as we can go with the trivialization of God, the marketing of God in America, and the total lack of reverence. It’s one thing to put a bumper sticker on your car, wear a WWJD bracelet, or come up with some cute phrases. It’s quite another to go where we are now. Continue reading ‘Dangerous Hallways’
Professional sport teams generally play better at home than in their away games. The best of teams though don’t care one way or the other. Of course they like sleeping in their own beds; however, they give it their best every time they step onto the court, or playing field. And how about you and I? Continue reading ‘Home Or Away’
In Exodus 3 we have one of those wonderful mythical and or metaphorical stories that Hebraic history is famous for. If you read it literally, the point I’m going to make doesn’t change. I believe in miracles. I believe a bush could burn and not be extinguished. I just don’t believe that’s the point or reality in this ancient story. Again, could be. Moses checks out this burning bush and asks “What is your name?”. Strange question to pose to a burning BUSH, don’t you think? But the answer is even more interesting. Continue reading ‘What On Earth Is - “I AM?”’

Psychic & Spiritual
Have you ever had your palms read? I did when I was 20-Something. I’ve never had other “readings”, tarot cards, etc. Astrology is fun and interesting but I gave up on that after I got married. It was a fun way to meet people, especially women. If you were single, you had to know what “sign” the gal was you were talking to. I used to read my horoscope for several years running, when I was young: even when I was a young Christian. Don’t wig out on me here and get super religious, or even a little religious. Can we talk?
