New & Old Friends

What did we do before we had weekends FREE? I know what I did, and I’m forgetting it! It seems like the weekends are full of events that I wonder how I missed all this stuff or is it that this is just the season to move to Friday night services. Whatever it is, this last weekend as we transition from March to April is a good example of why I like where LRC is now. Continue reading ‘New & Old Friends’

A Different Weekend

Extended P&W took center court Friday night and so there was no Beyond Theism Ministry. And it was the most incredible 90 minutes of P&W that I have EVER experienced. EVER! There are no words other than I’ve been spoiled, loved, ruined, and so blessed by such an incredible team of both NEW & OLD musicians and singers.
Since there was no teaching ministry time, I am going to review some of the highlights from the Friday night message. Come Monday you can get the oral Podcast version as usual thanks to the diligence of one Shawn Hesketh. Lyn and I will be out of town again this weekend (details on LRCHouston web site if interested) and while I’ll miss my early morning meditation times, stuff will work out so that I won’t miss anything. Spiritual Footprints

March 30, 2007 - We are all leaving a trail, an imprint of where we have been, and who we have touched. Life is a mixture of good and not-so-good events; some which we created and others over which we had no control. As you look at where you now stand and where you have been, where are your spiritual footprints seemingly leading?

Seeking Truth Is A Good Thing

It’s amazing how the ego gets riled up and attacks when some belief it holds is challenged. When one asks a simple question like what did Jesus do for the other 85% of His life that the Bible doesn’t say anything about, there are usually two attitudinal responses. How dare you question the the Christian beliefs of Jesus. Or, no one knows for sure so let’s not go there. Well, I’m not questioning any beliefs by wondering what Jesus did from age 12-29. Nor, am I claiming to have 100% certainty about what some of those speculations portend that He did while a young adult. So, let’s begin with this. Continue reading ‘Seeking Truth Is A Good Thing’

The Egoic Derailment

In case you’ve not noticed it, the church has left the tracks and has derailed primarily because of the church leadership in America that is pre-occupied with trying to build a “better hood” than the world is. Our comparisons aren’t with what IBM is doing. Our competition isn’t with the churches down the street. And our enemy isn’t Buddhism, Hinduism, or Islam. The person that is responsible for the spiritual derailment (in America) is none other than ourselves: more specifically our FALSE SELF. Continue reading ‘The Egoic Derailment’

Symbolic Objectification Or Gross Subjectification?

I wondered if the above title would cause readers to zone out or click on another web site. Could be; however, it best makes the point for me that I’m about to cover. An introductory clue here. The West is Greco-Roman in it’s thinking: intellectual, linear, and step 4 before step 5. The East is more aesthetic and intuitive in it’s approach to life. And?
