Some Weekend Thoughts

Spring break is a mish-mash of things, events, and activities; however, it is too often a time to check out of reality. And for many there’s this need to get back to WORK, so you can REST! We Americans simply seem to have to fill every moment, even vacations, with STUFF. I mean, aren’t vacations meant for us to DO, and DO, and DO until you put two of them together and you realize you’ve landed at a place you had not intended. Continue reading ‘Some Weekend Thoughts’

The Weekend Wrap

Most probably I will use my Friday night post message teaching as a recap for the weekend so those who could not stay can get the “highlights” as I perceive them. The thrust of post message teachings is to dive deeper, take longer to examine, ask questions, and hopefully learn how to “breathe under water” (spiritual metaphor) out of the Friday night message which this week was “God Do Something“. In other words, the core direction was PRAYER! Continue reading ‘The Weekend Wrap’

God… Do Something

March 16, 2007 – I believe that without even knowing it, religion has made God into a genie whom we come to for this thing and that thing, and become discouraged, even cursing God when doesn’t come through with the “goods”. Too many Christians think they can “use God” which is what all pagans did with their many gods.

Where Are The Disciples?

The older I get the more difficult my vision becomes and in fact it’s almost impossible for me to SEE true disciples of Jesus any more. I’ve fished in several “streams” of followers and it seems that they all have some cahrge, some fee, or something they want from YOU before they allow you the IN privledges. Continue reading ‘Where Are The Disciples?’

# 14- We’re Not Praying Out There

Since the “Traditionalists” decided to make their bed with Constantine in 312, religion and Christianity has missed a few beats. Quite a few. The Nicene Creed was as much a work of Constantine as the church fathers. Basically God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit were OBJECTIFIED. And ever since we have been increasingly taught to pray to this BEING that lives out there somewhere. Continue reading ‘# 14- We’re Not Praying Out There’

Nakedness Part Three?

Okay, I’m stretching it a bit here but I can’t help myself. The last two commentaries had to do with spiritual nakedness: Old Testament version and New Testament realities which got me to thinking about how much and how badly we have trashed the BODY! You know, that thing that allows our soul to express itself. That thing that has a connectivity to our spirit man or consciousness (that’s not a new age term).
I’m afraid the church comes off more than prudish to the world: an adjective for excessively and easily offended by sexual matters. Continue reading ‘Nakedness Part Three?’

Unending Detours To Now!

To one who has arrived the way is foreign.”

That Orinetal saying seems very appropriate for where I currently sit, and the view I now have – of my life. Whew! Why did I have to take that route, or shall I say those detours? Surely there was a much shorter way. And how easy it is to look at the exiled Hebrews make a 40 year journey out of few days trip and say, “How stupid“. Yes we seemingly ALL are! Continue reading ‘Unending Detours To Now!’

Words Fail & Scare Us

I’ve always been amused, as well as sad, that mighty warring Charismatics are so easily afraid of “words“. Words are neutral until we receive them with whatever spirit we choose to associate with such words. Most Christians have been conditioned to associate the word PRIDE with bad and evil things (Prov. 11:2). And yet we tell people how important it is to take PRIDE in their work. So, what’s the deal anyway? Continue reading ‘Words Fail & Scare Us’

Spiritual Chemicalization

I discovered this phrase, that seemingly fits what I want to say today, when reading an article by Walter Starcke, a local German-Texan author and modern mystic who lives in the Hill Country on 370 acres. He can’t be all bad! Seriously, Walter is an And-Also kinda guy as well. In fact, he’s spending most of his remaining life (he’s 86) trying to close the gap between humanity and divinity. Good luck- Seriously! Continue reading ‘Spiritual Chemicalization’

Between Father & Spirit

Juggling the And-Also of some thing in life is difficult- some things seemingly impossible. The Nicene Creed establised the “Traditionalists” as winners of the Gnostics. Christianity became “official” in 312; however, Constantine could not obliterate all of the gnosticism that’s still alive today. Continue reading ‘Between Father & Spirit’
