I’ve been a so-called Christian for 46 years!
I’ve been the founder and pastor of LRC for nearly 20 years!
I’ve been on a spiritual quest (for transformation) for 3 years!
The lava dome of the spirit has been building- shoving more “hot stuff” (religious crap) to the surface and out of the belly of the volcano of life. Many have run from the rumblings. It’s a dangerous thing to be in the hands of the God as the writer of Hebrews tells us in chapter 11. But there is no more holding back; whatever must come forth will. When the baby is ready it will come forth- nature or the creative forces of this universe are in control. Today LRC moves from what has been home for 15+ years. It’s been our 4th home location in nearly 20 years and by far the longest and most exciting location. But, what’s ahead is beyond my imagination, but imagine I do! I’m close to doing a multi-part commentary on Satan; however, until then, let me address this issue called EVIL! How many view on evil are there anyway? Let’s review a few. Evil is necessary that man might be able to exercise free will. Without evil, how would we know what is good? Evil is the result of man rebelling against God. Evil is just an illusion, there is only one power. But of all the explanations for evil, the story of Adam and Eve (even by those who do not take it literally) is still at the top of the charts. Amazing! Continue reading ‘Genetically Evil?’
When one says that they are a “Christian” what does that mean? Does it signify that they are followers of Jesus? Are they wedded to the Judaeo-Christian principles? Are they followers of Paul? Do they identify with Catholicism or Protestantism? And if so, which of the tens of thousands of Protestant flavors are they most like? Long before there were what’s called Christians, there were “Christ Communities“. Each of these communities lived a life of love; sharing the many stages of life with one another. There were no buildings that were called a church because the PEOPLE who were committed to the COMMUNITY were the church. They met wherever they could, but they lived “in community” with one another. To a very large degree, we’ve lost that paradigm in America. And it’s one of the reasons why “home churches” are so popular in America. Continue reading ‘Churches And “Communities”’
Wake up! We’re living a nightmare, but we’re not dreaming. That red liquid you see isn’t wine, it’s blood! How can we extricate ourselves from the superstition and hell of literalism whether it be of Christian or Muslim origins? Literalism divides, is haughty, thinks it’s the only way, and is incapable of compassion or love outside of believing in what “they” believe. The problem is that there are too many “they’s” and they have been killing all the other “they’s” who do not believe- the way they should. Enough of the “they’s and them’s“. We are ONE for Christ’s sake! Continue reading ‘# 34- Killing Doesn’t Please God!’
How is it that we came into such duality that wew see everything as us vs. them? How did that happen? Going futhere all that is material is evil and only that which is spirit is good. Didn’t God create this world and tell us that it was GOOD? Is that too Old Testament for you? There is a strong and long history of trying to separate oneself from the world. Let’s take a look at that. Continue reading ‘God Loves The World’
Don’t get too upset if you are questioning some of the things that you once believed, but be concerned if you’re comfortable and at ease with your religious state (or spirituality). As Timothy Freke said, “We perpetuate the nonchalant lie that we know who we are and what life is. One minute we are going about our business as if life were nothing special and the next we are face to face with profound, unfathomable, breathtaking Mystery. The is both the origin and the consummation of the spiritual quest.” In other words stuff happens. Matt. 5:45 puts it this way, “It rains on everyone!” And? Continue reading ‘Lost & Confused In Religion?’
That would be Jesus of Nazareth, who became known as “the Christ“; who was looked upon by the Jews as the Messiah, and who eventually was enshrined by the church, the proto-orthodox sect, as the ONLY begotten Son of God, even though the gospel of John says differently, if one cares to realize that. The Nicene Creed put the church rubber stamp of agreement on that which doomed us all to thinking that Jesus was the ONLY definitive revelation of God. I am! You are! All of creation testifies. Here’s what I see. Continue reading ‘The Definitive Revelation Of God’
The early church had a real problem with two competing concepts. Was Jesus pre-existent or was He of virgin birth? Logically speaking these are competing myths and one had to go. For many both had to go. As you look at the first chapter of the Old Testament and the first chapter of the New Testament, you see man-made attempts to explain the unexplainable, and while they did a far better job than I could, when you get down to the common denominator, it’s ALL GOD! Continue reading ‘It Is God Either Way’
While I am bent on following Jesus, the man from Nazareth, I also realize that what He was pointing to was a WAY (John 14:6) that was much bigger than even His mortal life here on earth. He was properly proclaimed the CHRIST! My Jesus (as this web site is partially called) became who He said I could become, if I would but FOLLOW HIM. And it’s such a tragedy that the church isn’t teaching us that as well. Here’s what I’m saying, or trying to. Continue reading ‘Bigger Than Jesus of Nazareth!’

The NEW LRC!
Just two months and 6 days shy of 20 years ago, LRC came into being. Some 15 families came together to meet on the 2nd floor of the Patrick Thomas building on 1960 West. The strange name of Liberty Revival Church was adopted. Liberty and freedom to worship God was what we sought. Revival was the heart beat and cry of the pastor whom we thought would lead us- Bill Crosby. Seven major points were adopted to being the VISION of the church. We are still pursuing those seven points nearly twenty years later; however, the Spirit has led us into deeper waters. Thank God! So, come July 1, 2007 LRC will remain our initials and branding, but the initials will stand for something else. Continue reading ‘The NEW LRC!’
