Apparitions or Armageddon

Must life be Trick or Treat (pun intended)? Can we find a middle ground? Please! In one camp we have those that are star-gazing and looking for the savior, the extraterrestial, the luminous, or something from outer space to swoop in and save our bacon from the frying pan. In the other camp are those who want the bacon to be fried- crispy! Sin and wanton lustfulness must be dealt with by swift judgment. May the holy God come and smite His enemies. Enough already! Religious Sleep Walking

I don’t think it is that people are tired as much as it is due to the fact that they’ve heard this all before- several times. I am talking about people who nod their heads and fall asleep in church. Another part of it is that more and more people are becoming turned off by what they hear served up that simply doesn’t happen. What miracles? and then there’s the massive hype and INFOTAINMENT that we all encounter every day of our life. How does church, religion compete? Continue reading ‘Religious Sleep Walking’

Birthing A Spiritual Awakening?

I don’t know how you do it. Were it to happen at LRC, I couldn’t write a book or tell someone how in seven steps it was accomplished.. Sometimes stuff just happens. Some call it critical mass, but how did it happen. Some call it the tipping point, to which I have the same question. This I feel certain that I heard though. LRC is a corporate midwife and we ARE in the extended birth pangs of an unique spiritual awakening. Continue reading ‘Birthing A Spiritual Awakening?’

Breaking Free

October 26, 2007 – Banishing God to the heavenlies out there somewhere and thus thinking that we’re somehow in control is not the way to freedom. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. And that means His will, not ours. How are you doing with that process?

Mystical Traditions

As one studies the ancient texts of civilizations past, a common thread runs through almost all. Unfortunately, the Christian tradition has dumbed-down that same promise into a “rapture mentality” wherein every who has not adhered to certain beliefs (theirs of course) are destined to being wiped out forever. The other civilizations see an end time of PROMISE! I like their idea better. Continue reading ‘Mystical Traditions’

Toys Of Triviality!

A little over a decade ago I read one of the best books for where I was in 1996. Donald W. McCullough made so much sense in his book entitled- The Trivialization of God. We’ve made God into our own image: a Western looking, blue-eyed, smooth-skinned, and ever smiling, holding a lamb with a broken leg. Sweet but trivial. We have him (and Mary and other Saints) on the dashboard of our cars, hanging from 24 carat gold chains, and other trivial toys that lead us onto too many detours of thinking, let alone being. Continue reading ‘Toys Of Triviality!’

Secretely Diluting Divinity

Like the frog in the kettle (you know that story right?), what began in power and might has been slowly and secretly stolen. It took decades and a lot of dogmas and doctrines to cover it all up, but where we have landed is with Christian-Lite, a very thin theology, and a veil of belief that everyone can see through- except those in the hot water! Continue reading ‘Secretely Diluting Divinity’

The Eternal Beloved

I side with Emmet Fox who lost his standing with the Catholic church for among other things espousing an “original blessing“. The relic of original sin has deep roots with much of Christianity. Such biological passing of the baton of sin seems too theologically thin for me. I see the original blessing of the eternal love of the Father embedded within our hearts as a pilot light that never goes out until we are set totally aflame with the divine love. Catastrophic Or Ecstatic?

Every day, everyone of us is awakening to choices we make unconsciously. As a result of those choices, religion calls it free will, our days and our lives are filled with all sorts of emotions: emotions which bring us either catastrophic or ecstatic feelings. And somewhere in that mix is the dreadful lifestyle of an unfeeling, apathetic, and meaningless existence. Unknowingly, there are colliding forces pressing in on each of us, and humanity as a whole is walking a fault line whose pressures are building ever dangerously.
