It’s time for “spiritualists” to take over where the church has decided not to go- establishing the Kingdom of God! The world is essentially caught up in it’s own doings: shackled with fear and judgments. And both are at play at an increasing and alarming rate. Radical Islam is being stood up to by Christian fundamentalism and the results are not good for anyone! It’s time that we awaken and see that RELIGION (of whatever branding) is primarily the agent for social CONTROL and CONFORMITY. It’s time to break away from that which is not working! October 19, 2007 - Like frogs in a pot of cool water, with the heat being ever so slowly turned up, if the church in America doesn’t awaken soon to it’s magnificent calling and opportunity, the water may get too hot to act. Vast diversity of cultures, on top of a scientific revolution demands we move on to the next grade of spirituality quickly.
For how many decades, maybe a century, has the church in America been selling the same religious stew? I hope you can feel my compassion for the situation as well as my passion for the Kingdom of God. We’ve been building multi-million dollar churches, mega church complexes, establishing international TV ministries, Conferences & Crusades every week somewhere, CD’s, Video’s, and all that is happening is that the religious culture is being changed to be more like the secular culture. The Christian divorce rate is 1% higher than the non-Christian divorce rate. When do we wake up? Continue reading ‘Change The “Default” Setting’
We Christians have the right doctrine, the infallible denomination, the inerrant holy book, and the ONLY WAY to eternal life. Can you not see how that simply sucks, stinks, or savages anyone not in “our club“? There is only one spirit, one God, one US, which includes US ALL! One day it will fall into place and we will see not dimly, but perfectly. So, for now let us have compassion on those who have not as much as we, the anointed and privliged class; whatever you take that to be Continue reading ‘The Trance Of Separation’
That’s what we are! The old phrase is “pilgrims and wayfarers“. But, we aren’t alone on the journey even if we’ve chosen such. There is no such thing as a pure or absolute “loner“. A person couldn’t make it through the day without the paraclete- not to mention all those who help us get through the day whether we acknowledge them or not! Continue reading ‘Peregrini et Viatores’
On the one hand it is sad to wake up one day and realize that you have held on to some “beliefs” that are UNTRUE! What’s worse is to realize that something is untrue, but not be willing to make the course changes to get back on solid ground. The good news is that you have the option of living the truth at least for the rest of your life- should you so desire. Sadly, many don’t! Continue reading ‘Father Favoring Faults’
For all practical purposes church membership as defined by most church leaders is far from the truth. Church membership is characterized generally as a “coming forward” to confirm or announce one’s submission to Jesus, the Christ (a public confession at some starting point) and intention or desire to JOIN the local assembly which one stands before, symbolically and physically. The person agrees to serve, contribute financially (with reminders every week of course), and be submissive to the church leadership. There are variations; however, most would agree to this general outline. The only problem is that it’s not valid. Continue reading ‘What Is Church Membership?’
In the business world, a monopoly is frowned upon and even legislated out of being such. A monopoly (from Greek monos) is defined as a persistent market situation where there is only one provider of a product or service, in other words a firm that has no competitors in its industry. Christianity (can you say the Roman Catholic church?)thought that it had a monopoly on SALVATION for hundred of years. Then along came Islam, Enlightenment, Reformation, modern science, and pluralism. And before you know it, there’s not only competition in the field of “a salvistic patent“, but there’s evidence there never was a monopoly at all anyway. Continue reading ‘What Monopoly?’
Jesus spoke in parables. We all know that. And parables were used in the Old Testament; however, parables could be broken into two distinct approaches and that is the point I want to make today. There was of course the distintiveness of His use of the parables which came with an authority that no one else employed. After all, He was totally sold out to God and behaviorially, the only begotten Son of God. Continue reading ‘Parables With Power’

Hitting The Highlights
As I sit on my patio this Sunday morning with the temperatures in the 60’s (finally!), several thoughts came to me about my last Friday’s message. And while you can listen to the whole thing free come Monday on the Podcasts section which Shawn usually has posted by noon Monday, I wanted to at least solidify a couple of points (highlights?) for me, if not for you. Here they are. Continue reading ‘Hitting The Highlights’
