Biblical Bias

How can we ever attain unity of the Spirit when there is so much intolerance, certainity of doctrine, and known prejudicial bias that goes into so much of a Christian’s reading of the Bible? Or is it just me? Well, if it is, let me confess my known prejudices and maybe, just maybe therein, you might see one for yourself and we could make some headway to accepting that none of us is righteous- only God is GOOD as Jesus reminded us. Why Holy Spirit?

It seems to me that the light at the end of this tunnel called spiritual liminal space is getting brighter. In other words there is an increased cosmic, collective consciousness that is opening our awareness to the reality of who we are. One of the things that has to go in this spiritual awakening is the two power- duality paradigm! Continue reading ‘Why Holy Spirit?’

Introduction To God

As I look back at where I began my conversion and religious journey, I am amazed that I stayed on the legal treadmill for as long as I did. Many people simply decide that they can no longer jump through the religious hoops and they opt out of the formal religious power plays. The good news is that most keep pursuing the spiritual path that religion didn’t pay much attention. Continue reading ‘Introduction To God’

God, Allah, And Zen

Why does it matter the name that we give the Creator of ther universe? The difficult but unvarnished answer is because every religion thinks that ALL other religions are heretical and false. And since each religion has it’s own name for this Creator, to even verbalize the name of another religion’s God is tantamount to anathema. In other words, you will be run out of your church, denomination, or religion on a fast rail. Continue reading ‘God, Allah, And Zen’

Unconditional Love?

I think it’s unconsciously done for the most part, however the results are the same. Too much of the church teaching down through the ages has been from the Gospel of Conditional Love. God is portrayed as one who offers and IS unconditional love and yet the realities that are faced by most church-going adherents smacks of conditions: multiple conditions! Continue reading ‘Unconditional Love?’

To Err Is Human!

Who has not heard that lead statement? But, who has heard it spoken or embraced by the church? Almost every church and or denomination feels that they have a copyright on God, religion, and all things spiritual. The church is not only alienating ALL those other churches that are wrong in their doctrine, but the church is alienating all those loving, tolerant, and spiritually seeking individuals who are looking for dialogue and conversations. Continue reading ‘To Err Is Human!’

United in Love

Jesus came to show us how to live in a loving relationship. Unfortunately the church has changed the community life into a doctrinal litmus test where “worthiness” is attained through following the doctrines of man, religion, or the denominational mantra.

Amazing Grace

I am so glad that I’m not in a “worthiness” contest- at least not any more. Unfortunately the church has been caught up in hierarchial achievements, vestments that let everyone know just how high up the pecking order one has attained, and pompous adjectives that go before our names to make sure all know just “how great we art“. I’ll take grace, amazing grace any day! Continue reading ‘Amazing Grace’

Religious Certitude

Once upon a time in a place far far away from where I now reside, and in a steepled church of such magnificance, I learned what WAS and what WAS NOT as it applies to Christianity. I was a good student. I was an obedient servant. Therefore I rose from once who experienced salvation at 17, the role of a deacon at 21, and a trustee at 23. But!  Continue reading ‘Religious Certitude’
