One upon a time I was afraid of this angry God that I had been taught who would send a person to hell forever just because they lived in the rain forests of Indonesia and had never heard the name Jesus. Why would any god do that? We’re ALL sinners in the hands of an angry god? Yes on the first count, but hell no (metaphorically speaking) on the second part. Continue reading ‘Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God?’

The stock market (DOW) is down over 1,000 points in a little over two months, the price of gasoline is apporaching $4 a gallon, and everything costs more. Did I mention that there are fewer and fewer good jobs available? There’s a long list of bad stuff that could be added to the above, but why get depressing. Are you feeling hopeless? I’m sure you can come up with a lot of reasons why you’re like you are; however, I’ve got some GOOD NEWS for you. Continue reading ‘Feeling Hopeless?’
The power of God isn’t what you hear preached on most Sunday’s from the pulpits around the world. God’s power isn’t so much about His ability to punish, His wrath, or ability to slap our hands with each mistake we make. That’s the god of too many religious paradigms- not mine! Continue reading ‘Power of God’
I seldom talk about PATIENCE because I’m not so sure I’m very good at it. The patience game wears me out, frustrates me, and doesn’t fit with my hyper personality; however, I am glad that there are people in my life to demonstrate their patience with me. Most importantly, I’m excited about the patience of God towards me. Continue reading ‘Patience Game’
For way too much of my adult life I tried to make sense of the obvious contradictions in the bible. I was taught that the holy spirit wrote the whole thing so there couldn’t be any Bible contradictions or inconsistencies, but there they were. They screamed out at me and the more I tried to defend against the obvious, the more insane and irrevelant I became: for the very one I was trying to promote. As though God needed my approval? Continue reading ‘Bible Contradictions’
Christianity has grown out of Judaism (as Jesus did) which means that much of our Christian doctrine follows some of the same themes and sees the world from the same lens. However, very few people actually know what the Hebrews believed when it came to the blood atonement.
And you thought the killing of more than six million Jews during World War II was bad? How many know what the word (holocaust) means? The Greek word holos means completely, and the word kaustos means burnt. There are few tragedies or modern memory that come close to this commentary on the evil of mankind. What did the German church do when Hitler was on ascendency? Nothing. But, worse yet, the churhc preaches a future Christian holocaust that will “completely burn” billions of people. Continue reading ‘The Christian Holocaust?’
We all suffer from some sort of bondage! Financial bondage, debt, and over-extension of our resources is one of the worst. It consumes our vital jucies as we worry though days and nights endlessly, wondering how we can escape the grip of debt’s fears. However, one of the most subtle and relentless bondages is that which is sold by the church and various religious leaders. We need religious freedom most of all. Continue reading ‘Religious Freedom!’
I am amazed at how many fundamentalists, literalists, or legalists who still live by the antiquated Old Testament rules and laws. And especially the Leviticus 21 chapter that demands an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth which if applied would leave our world blind and toothless. Maybe that’s why we are blind- in a spiritual sense as we war religion against religion, doctrine against doctrine, and denomination against denomination. Continue reading ‘Eye For An Eye?’

Good Friday!
Good Friday, Holy Friday, Great Friday, Sorrowful Friday (in German), High Friday (in Armenia), or Passion Friday (in Russia) is the Friday on which the Christian Church keeps the anniversary of the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. For most Americans it’s a day off, a shortened work week rather than a shortened life, as it was for Jesus, who became the Christ. Continue reading ‘Good Friday!’
