Instead of enjoying the fruits of spiritual diversity, the world is suffering because of religious division. Religion and denominations have as their purpose DIVISION! How will we ever be able to bring the world together with such an environment? On the macro level Catholics and Protestants divide, while on the micro level denominations split and divide over silly issues, or so it seems. Continue reading ‘Religious Division’

Subversive isn’t a word that Christians are inclined to use when speaking of Jesus, who became known as the Christ; however, when you look at the historical Jesus within the setting to which He entered, there’s no better word to describe Him. He literally turned the world upside down while the church is still trying to put it right side up. Will we ever get it? Get Him? Continue reading ‘The Subversive Jesus!’
The EGO wants to use (and abuse) others for it’s own gratification and gain. Jesus showed us how important it is that we attach ourselves to His body and in so doing become united to everyone else- especially those who walk through life with us.
For way too much of my life, I gave tacit assent to the fact that Jesus was a human being while really seeing him as more divine. After all with the virgin story and what the church was teaching me, how could I think anything else? Jesus was a god, the God, and therefore different than me. Even if he was all divine and all human, have you considered the implications of His HUMANITY? Continue reading ‘Jesus Was Human!’
Why does one choose to become a Christian instead of a Buddhist, Muslim, or Hindu? Obviously the most clear answer is because of where one was born. GEOGRAHY! Now, that sure doesn’t sound like a great reason to be a Christian or join any religion or denomination. So, if we set physical location aside, what’s the motivation? Continue reading ‘Christian Motivation’
Many churches, some of the largest, do demographic surveys. What do the people want? What are their interests. What’s the target audience that they need to reach? It’s some of the same questions and surveys that McDonalds and Starbucks do before putting in one of their franchises. Is this the purpose, the priority of a church? Some say YES! Continue reading ‘Church Priorities’
Jesus talked about and lived a theology of love, but the church that took it’s name from whom He became (”the Christ”- which wasn’t His last name but His character) adopted a theology of laws, dogmas, doctrines, and stuff that divides, and divides again. Continue reading ‘A Theology Of Love’
When led into freedom by Moses, the people couldn’t handle the liberty. They were used to being enslaved as much of the church is today. It’s no wonder they wished that they could GO BACK to Egypt… and slavery. Wide open spaces are scary!
That American was founded on Christian principles is undeniable. But, the brand and flavor of Christianity was far from what Pat Robertson or other conservative Christians would admit. Far from being theists, most of the founding fathers were diests. And the more well-known founders were Unitarians, and not Trinitarians! Big differences! Many seem to think that spending 50% of a nations GNP is the sure way to peace. Wonder why that has never ever worked. If wars were the answer to finding peace why are there so many wars? Bottom line- violence can never redeem. Power can never redeem. Only love redeems! Continue reading ‘Social Transformation’
