Too many people have not made the transition from the Old Testament to the New Covenant, from pure Judaism to Christianity and as a result there’s way too much confusion. It’s not only those who interpret everything in the Bible LITERALLY that have entered the halls of deception, but those who have embraced the METAPHORS too rigidly as well. A metaphor is a figure of speech in which an expression is used to refer to something that it does not literally denote in order to suggest a similarity. Got it? The metaphor is NOT the thing. Because there are hundreds of translations for those who are thirsty, hungry, and desperately seeking God who must dig in and do a lot of studying, comparing, and wrestling with the Scriptures. If you buy the premise, then you have to ask yourself, why are we killing each other in the name of God? If God be God, then this Creator is IMMUTABLE! God can’t be increased, decreased, diminished, let alone “dead” as some have drawn the conclusion. Unfortunately too many Christians use the Bible, Scriptures, and their theology to condemn people or to bring them to their way of thinking. We’re to LIVE the truths of Jesus, not USE them against others. But, to LIVE them will necessarily take us past just the PRINT on PAPER!
Jesus didn’t come to start new religion. Yes, Jesus ws a Jew and one who quoted from the Hebrew Scriptures. While Jesus is said to have quoted from 24 of the 39 books books, some 180+ times, he also made it clear that there was more than meets the eye. Tithes & Offerings : Malachi 3
How many times did I hear this Old Testament verse (Malachai 3:10) used as an inducement to get me to tithe and give offerings to the church. “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,†says the LORD Almighty, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it!
