Sometimes we stumble over and really don’t see the OBVIOUS. And then, what’s obvious to one may not be to another. We’ve been given two physical eyes and one (third) spiritual eye. I’ve come to the conclusion that the two eyes are “ways of seeing“. We SEE the Bible DEVOTIONALLY with one eye and HISTORICALLY with the other. And then we merge them with our third eye to complete the picture. Continue reading ‘Bible Interpretation : Devotionally & Historically’

And a mighty fine LOVER HE BE! I’ve since forgotten what the estimate is of the number of animals that were sacrificed in the name of God. Who would really want to know such a number if they could? I’ve also seen estimates of the number of females sacrificed to the Gods by being thrown into volcanoes or burned at the stake. Did I mention I don’t know how many witches were burned at the stake also? Continue reading ‘God’s A Lover Not A Killer’
The Bible is the SACRED Christian document WRITTEN by MAN, but definitely inspiring literature. When one moves out of “pulpit preaching”, particularly in Southern America, and into an honest theological discussion from men and women who experts in Bible study, one encounters a very different Paul. And, of course, a very different Bible. It’s no less important. In fact, it’s far more exciting! Continue reading ‘Radical, Reactionary, & Conservative Paul’
John 5:39-40 reminds us that the Scriptures are to POINT to the Christ, but they are not in and of themselves the Christos. When will we understand that it is CHRIST in us the hope of glory: not Chist in the books of the Bible?
The courts are embroiled in censorship of every sort, but one of the most bizarre has to be the distinctions between hard porn and soft porn. The internet is raising all sorts of issues over freedom of speech and the right to protect the young, etc. I imagine that the differences are much like those that we find between HARD & SOFT Biblical authority paradigms. Continue reading ‘Hard Core Porn & Bible?’
There are few, though I am sure there are some, who see Jesus with God somewhere beyond and above the CLOUDS. We no longer (some do) believe the earth is flat. We embrace more scientific truths such as the heliocentric view of the solar system and not the archaic geocentric paradigm. And yet, much of our FAITH is still bound up is 2-4,000 year old theologies. Continue reading ‘Beyond The Clouds?’
If you grew up in the South, (of America) you had to love Sundays. At least, I did. It was the Southern fried chicken baby and at our house that also meant awesome moist dinner rolls (hand made of course), white creamed gravy, collard greens (it where I inherited my ’soul’) loaded with butter and ham drippins, creamed corn, and topped off with apple pie! Oh yeah! Continue reading ‘Southern Fried Bible & Chicken!’
The many CONTRADICTIONS & DISCREPANCIES in the Bible do not invalidate or cancel the Kingdom! For me the Bible is the “Word of God, but not the words of God”. I am a seeker of TRUTH, not a defender of any RELIGION! My spirit RESONATES in the Christos that Jesus became, but not with stories of God that simply make no sense today- or EVER! Continue reading ‘Sacred & Inspiring Literature!’
Thankfully “Rapture Fever” is decreasing in America. The BIG MONEY has been made from all those books about the end of the world and fear of who might get “Left Behind“. Of course there are many who believe in reincarnation to varying degrees. So, maybe Jesus has already returned. Maybe he’s now here as Barack Obama or Sara Palin. Does a person have to retain their gender in a second visitation?

The Stench Of Christian “Exclusivity”
I am a Christian. I take great pride in being a follower, as best as I am, of the historical Jesus, who became the Christos. I have made the study of the Bible a life-time adventure, and one amazing adventure it has been. I am not proud though of the historical record of violence, prejudice, and killing that’s been done in the name of the “Christian God“. Continue reading ‘The Stench Of Christian “Exclusivity”’
