Wonder what might happen to our planet if just the two BILLION Christians decided to quit “putting down” those who have a different approach to the Bible and Jesus? What would it be like if fundamentalists could lie down with the progressive ilk and that mainstream orthodoxers (a word?) would join hands with the New-agers? And what IF one could disagree with another without being called deceived or a cult member? Continue reading ‘Loving Christian Diversity’

Sometimes having a BLIND EYE can serve us well and be a benefit. Such is the case with a British naval hero, Sir. Lloyd Nelson. In the battle of Traflagar, the British admiral signaled retreat thinking they would be beaten. When Nelson’s subordinates told him that the flag had been raised to retreat, he put the spyglass over his eye that had a patch on it and said, ” I don’t see anything. ATTACK!” Continue reading ‘A Spiritual Blind Eye’
Fox Mulder said on the X-Files, “I’ve often felt that dreams are answers to questions we haven’t yet figured out how to ask.” I think that not strange because we’re not nearly as interested in the QUESTIONS of life, as we once were, but we want ANSWERS. Unfortunately the CERTITUDE that we’re looking for won’t be found, but the mindset that we CAN KNOW ALL, and maybe already DO, smells of death. Continue reading ‘The Certitude Of My Religion’
Everything was going along smoothly in the Garden of Eden and until the thought occurred to Eve that Muslims were going to hell, unless they converted to Protestant Christianity wherein they were fully immersed in Baptism and agreed to two sacraments (not five) and sixty six books for the Bible (not seventy two). When there was ONENESS all was well in the garden. Continue reading ‘The Tree Of Duality’
John 14:6 has been used by Christians for 1700 years to treat all other people of any other religion as second class citizens at best, and people going to hell at worst. Is there another interpretation that’s not so exclusive?
I struggled for much of my life with the argument that the Holy Spirit wrote the entire Bible (through men and women of course) and therefore the Bible could not, and did not contradict itself. And yet, I had all of these questions and the apparent contradictions, many within the same book, by the same author: whomever the author might be! Continue reading ‘Jesus Contradicts God?’
I’m sure that best-selling aethist Christopher Hitchens was helped to come to his metaphysical consciousness level by well-meaning, but MEAN and intolerant Christians. I am constantly baffled by those who call themselves Christians and have a disdain and hate for those of another religion. Since Christianity has been the most VILOLENT religion in the last 2,000 years, why should I be surprised? Why do we say that we follow the Prince of Peace and keep killing? Why! Following the secular culture and today’s lifestyle of microwave everything, the Christian church has followed suit knowingly or unconsciously. Ken Blanchard’s book, “The One Minute Manager” was such a huge success that it was followed by several other “One Minute” titles. Everybody wants a QUICK FIX these days and Christians are no less desirous of such a paradigm. Continue reading ‘The One Hour Christian!’
Much of Christianity has violated the first and second commandment by making a GRAVEN IMAGE out of the Bible. I know, it’s April 1st, but I’m not kidding, and this isn’t an April fools joke. Many have elevated the Bible into an idol, otherwise known as Bibliolatry. Before I go on, let me remind you that I cherish the Bible and see it as sacred to the Christian community to which I belong. Continue reading ‘The Biblical Graven Image- No Foolin!’

Good Friday
Just in time for the Easter weekend, NEWSWEEK magazine headlines a lengthy survey and analysis that carries the title- “The End of Christian America”! Also this week, Barack Obama proclaimed that “America is no longer a Christian nation“. He went on to also say that “America is not Jewish, nor Islamic, but a nation of faith”. Welcome to Good Friday! Continue reading ‘Good Friday’
