Being Good Isn’t Good Enough!

I grew up in a denominational church environment within the Bible Belt where things were a bit different than say New York or Seattle: not to mention the Far East or other nations around the globe. My purpose was to understand and embrace my religion’s moral system and be good in contrast to those being evil. Continue reading ‘Being Good Isn’t Good Enough!’

From Devi To Devil?

Who got in and planted the “L” on DEVI? While we were asleep did the “enemy”, whomever that might be, sneak in the back door and plant an “L” on the beloved Goddess DEVI? Devi is a Sanskrit word for Goddess, used mostly in Hinduism. She is the female counterpart without whom the male aspect remains impotent and void. However, that was long ago before Patriarchalism took over. Continue reading ‘From Devi To Devil?’

Inside Information!

Why was it that Jesus spoke one way to the masses and then a different way behind closed doors with the disciples? What’s up with that? What’s the message that we can take from this style of teaching, speaking, and living?

The Gospel Truth

I love the Gospel of John. There is so much richness in the word about the Christos that none of the synoptic gospels embrace. And I love Mark with his “immediately” this and “immediately” that. The straight forward approach that Mark takes with do dilly-dally reads like a novel. So, it matters not to me WHO wrote the gospels, but this you should know. Continue reading ‘The Gospel Truth’

Delusional Deliverance

Looking historically at what I once believed but no longer, I can’t help but wonder what I now embrace will one day be thought of as either a delusion or an illusion as well. A delusion is a fixed false belief and is used in everyday language to describe a belief that is either false, fanciful, or derived from deception. It is distinct from a belief based on false or incomplete information or certain effects of perception which would more properly be termed an illusion. Continue reading ‘Delusional Deliverance’

Box Builders “R” Us

Having been (past tense) a FUNDAMENTALIST I know and experienced the dangers of thinking that ALL revelation has been given and that I (and my church) KNOW IT ALL! It was somewhere between the age of 21-25 that my theology was neatly packaged in a way that I could SELL IT to anyone who would listen. It only took 3-5 years to formulate what I KNEW and what was TRUTH and what wasn’t. My box was built! Continue reading ‘Box Builders “R” Us’

The Triune Source Of Sorrow

How did Christianity, as known in America, particularly in the Bible Belt, come to the doctrinal propositions and beliefs that it currently embraces? It’s that old, “Why do you cut the ends of the ham off”, question. The answer is because that’s how it’s been done for as long as I know and I’m only doing what I’ve seen and know. :-( Continue reading ‘The Triune Source Of Sorrow’

The Triune Witness

God wants us to know Him- not “rules about Him“. Is that such a stretch? Therefore we were created in the “image of God”, but what does that mean? Those with a lower mythic level of consciousness see God as a “physical” being, sitting somewhere “out there” with a beard and wise demeanor; however, there’s more to that “image” than just some anthropomorphic comparisons. Continue reading ‘The Triune Witness’

The Unlettered Disciples

The Jewish leaders were astonished at the passion and selflessness of the disciples of Jesus. After all these were common laborers with the general consensus that most were only in their late teens or early twenties. They’ve all been depicted and described as lower class from Galilee. They spoke Aramaic and were not educated. Is this Jesus picking the HAVE NOTS to confound the HAVES? Continue reading ‘The Unlettered Disciples’

Separation By Perception Only

For too long the Western American church has taught hell, sinfulness, and a position where many are standing outside the garden separated from God. It’s not possible to be SEPERATED from God other than by PERCEPTION.
