Devi is a Sanskrit word for Goddess, used mostly in Hinduism. She is the female counterpart without whom the male aspect remains impotent and void. Why was it that Jesus spoke one way to the masses and then a different way behind closed doors with the disciples? What’s up with that? What’s the message that we can take from this style of teaching, speaking, and living?
I love the Gospel of John. There is so much richness in the word about the Christos that none of the synoptic gospels embrace. And I love Mark with his “immediately” this and “immediately” that. Looking historically at what I once believed but no longer, I can’t help but wonder what I now embrace will one day be thought of as either a delusion or an illusion as well. A delusion is a fixed false belief and is used in everyday language to describe a belief that is either false, fanciful, or derived from deception. The Jewish leaders were astonished at the passion and selflessness of the disciples of Jesus. After all these were common laborers with the general consensus that most were only in their late teens or early twenties. They’ve all been depicted and described as lower class from Galilee.
