No Laughing Matter

What is happening in the world currently is devastating in so many ways. And I believe there is far more pain just around the corner; however, if that is what it takes to get us back to some manner of sanity, so be it. Our world is not going to be transformed by any political party, but by a cosmic consciousness which is what the church should be representing- but aren’t! Continue reading ‘No Laughing Matter’

The Insensitivity of Exclusivity

Most historians agree that of all religions over the last 2,000 that Christianity has been the most intolerant and exclusive. The main proof text for such a reputation is of course John 14:6 where it is recorded that Jesus said, “I am the way, truth, and life, and no one comes to the Father, but through me (and various similar translations). Continue reading ‘The Insensitivity of Exclusivity’

A 2010 Second Coming Of Jesus!

The Christos (Christ Spirit) has already come, but let’s talk about what it might look like and how we might respond if JESUS, the MAN were to return at a different time, in a different culture: maybe a time like today. What would things look like or appear if Jesus came in February of 2010- having been born around 1980 (got it)? :-) Continue reading ‘A 2010 Second Coming Of Jesus!’

The Jesus Experiment!

Let me begin with a quote from Alan Boyd Kuhn, “The historical Jesus as a civilziing influence has now been tried for nearly twenty centuries. It well behooves humanity in the West now to try the concept of the indwelling Christ, the hope of our glory.” One can go several ways with that statement. Continue reading ‘The Jesus Experiment!’

Hope Is In God!

Ron Corzine made his quarterly visit and shared how HOPE in God is based not on something we want in the FUTURE, but the knowledge of what the PAST has brought to us. What’s your track record with God?

2010 Christian Spirituality

Yesterday, I was asked two questions. The first one was meant for shock purposes, the second one to settle the person into a contemplative mode. Or at least that was how I saw the questions. They were easy questions for me because I had been asked them before and the two questions basically give one a clue as to IF they are in a 2010 spiritual mode of living or something more akin to the 1950′s. Religious BS (Belief Systems) Kills!

Surely no one has a problem with that story title. History convicts us. The blood of hundreds of MILLIONS of people, stain the soil of the planet. Inquisitions, Crusades, and witch hunts remind us of how EVIL much of our BS can and has been. However, there is hope because we also have the Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, and Gandhi to look back on and see it doesn’t have to be that way! Continue reading ‘Religious BS (Belief Systems) Kills!’

Samadhi, Satori, and Holy Cow!

What is well established in science is that MIRACLES do happen, but are they a result of deterministic materialism, or just something we will never be able to discover? Science goes down fighting you know. The “materialistic religion” of science is strong indeed; however, even science now has to make some spiritual admissions. Continue reading ‘Samadhi, Satori, and Holy Cow!’

Show Me The Love!

Of course, in America the mantra is, show me the MONEY! Maybe show me my welfare check or some such other material “thing”. It seems we as a society have lost sight of the central message of the GOOD NEWS which is that God is LIGHT and God is LOVE! So, since we were created in THAT IAMGE, what’s holding us back? Continue reading ‘Show Me The Love!’

Courageous Mental Shifts

There are so many definitions of courage. Generally speaking courage is the quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, pain, etc., without fear. Or, maybe with fear to proceed nonetheless. Seeing children wrestle with cancer or other physical maladies takes great courage. Continue reading ‘Courageous Mental Shifts’
