It’s almost a “badge of honor” in some denominations to NOT follow any logical or sane reasoning, but only to follow “spiritual discernments”, otherwise known as crutches-excuses for not being real!

Depending upon where you live geographically, you’ve probably known God by a NAME that you once discovered was not the name of God in another continent. But, you do know that there’s just one God regardless of the name the local culture places on Him-She-It? Right?
I don’t know how much you have thought about the after-life. It probably depends upon how old you are to a degree: youth never think about death or dying. And, neither is Obamacare tops on their list- but that’s another story. We’ve been given two choices by mainline religion. There’s hell, which is; and, there’s heaven which for me would be the ultimate nightmare!
Let me add, my ultimate nightmare IF it is as described by most fundamentalists!
You know all about the stories of the devil and his RAPACIOUS acts. Satan is the accuser of the people. The snake in the grass that the evil one has been described is scary, even without horns and a red suit. But, have you really thought at any length about the heaven as described in most praise and worship songs? Allow me to awaken you.
>Heaven is a place where you spend eternity PRAISING God!
>The adulation NEVER STOPS: it goes on for eternity!
>There is everlasting happiness with NO END.
>Have you ever thought how BORING never experiencing anything but GOOD is?
>If we sleep, and who knows, what’s there to wake up tomorrow (if there’s time) for anyway?
Okay, enough tongue in cheek!
But seriously, I think I’d prefer coming back here for another round (reincarnation) of life and maybe that “taste of steak” that Cypher spoke of in the movie, The Matrix. And, what about there being NO TIME? The definition of time that I like is, “We have TIME so everything doesn’t happen at the same time.” Is heaven timeless? I say all of this to say that while I embrace an “after life”, I am more interested in living THIS LIFE in the HERE and NOW. We create our own heaven and earth before moving on- or back to the spirit realm (unless we shuttle off to another universe.
The earth experience has been wonderful so I expect the heaven experience to be even more of a blast and NOTHING like our P&W songs depict heaven to be. Love has been awesome here- wait until it fully manifests in another dimension.
There are far too many things that have happened in church history that we wished we could forget, but alas, they are there! The Crusades and Inquisitions stand out all too boldly. The burning of women witches at the stake, the Reformation killings particularly in German. And of course, the craziness of the geocentric universe that the church embraced.
