2012 Year Of Jubliee?

If ever there has been a ten thousand+ year old prophecy, it’s the December 21, 2012 winter solstice that dozens of indigenous cultures have written and carried as an oral tradition. Exactly what it means, and how civilizations like the Mayans and their infamous calendar, is subject to much debate. So, why not add yet another potentiality?

What if we’re coming into an era, an age of intuitiveness, a time akin to the homo luminous that some have spoken, or more specifically, a birthing of the Christ Consciousness- a 2012 Year of Jubilee where ALL is FORGIVEN?

In John 10, the writer tells us that Jesus said that he had “other sheep“. The historical Jesus became the “Christos” and he told us we could too. One of the greatest contributions that Paul made, that Christians have by and large missed, is the concept of a Cosmic Christ. For those who believe Christianity is the only way to the proverbial heaven such a deep esoteric concept is currently too much.

Let me ask the question that Matthew Fox asked (before being banned from Catholicism by then Cardinal Ratzinger- now Pope Benedict XVI), “Does the fact that the Christ became incarnate in Jesus exclude the Christ’s becoming incarnate in others- Lao-tzu or Buddha or Moses, or Sarah or Sojourner Truth or Gandhi or me or you”?

Does not the Cosmic-ness” of Christ need to be born in ALL of us?

There is no Christian sun, no Hindu moon, Islamic river, Taoist mountain, nor Buddhist valley. And there isn’t a Roman Catholic planet. Writing more than twenty years ago, Matthew Fox had a dream of a Vatican III wherein among other things, a Pope he calls John XXIV dismantles the Office of Inquisition (aka the Congregation of the Doctrine of Faith) and replaces it with a “board of grandmothers who would counsel the overall church on the implications of doctrine and movements among the young.”

Did Fox have a premonition that Ratzinger was coming after him, as he did and forbid his teaching of theology in 1988 and then dismissed him from the Dominican Order in 1992?

Does a 2012 Year of Jubilee sound like a 2012FinalFantasy? :-)

So, what’s your hope for the future?
