# 4- The Garden Revisted

Okay, let’s take on the BIG ONE- the Adam and Eve metaphor within the creation allegory. Do I believe that there are real live historical Biblical characters. Absolutely. But, is the Bible primarily written to teach us natural sciences or history? Absolutely NOT! There’s way too much history and historical accounts to not accept Moses as an historical figure as an example: or Isaiah, Elijah. The New Testament goes without saying due to many extra-Biblical accounts and thousands of years later than Adam or Eve. So, do I believe Adam and Eve were real historical people? I doubt it, but it doesn’t matter one way or the other because the message, moral, and mission is found in the metaphors they stand in for in the creation allegory. Check this out.

The 2,918 main characters in the Bible (if my memory serves me right on the number), real or metaphorical, represent “states of mind”: and are examples from which we can learn how TO and how NOT TO. Don’t get lost now, but you can’t draw, paint, or sculpt certain emotions; however, you can tell stories that depict those emotions and or situations. Thus we have people and their stories wherein our imaginations will stay fresh with stories of Daniel in the Lion’s Den, Jonah, in the whale, and other stories that will be told forever. They carry the message.

Unfortunately, too many people only remember the details and miss the distinction of their destiny. :-(

Adam and Eve represent ONE whole person! Two people who represent ALL of mankind- that would include you and I. Let’s stick with our symbolism and be faithful to the allegory. Adam is our BODY. Eve is our SOUL. Adam and Eve stand for the soul and body of every person on this planet. You okay so far? :-)

1-The body cannot experience what the soul (mind) has not first thought.
2-Thus Eve had to “think” of eating the fruit before Adam (body) could partake of it.
3-The body (Adam) was the shadow of the mind-thinking-soul (Eve).
4-Everything the soul does the body manifests. It’s a natural law
5-Adam is introduced first because we’re aware of our body, before we are of our soul.
6-Woman means “one with”, or a “part of” which emphasizes the fact that body and soul (mind) are one: the body is only the “embodiment” of the soul or mind. This in no way demeans the woman, but if read properly elevates her greatly.

Which brings us to the truth that “As a man THINKS so he IS“. In the end, we always express our soul, our mind, or our consciousness.

I think I’ll leave it there and wrap up with a fifth and final comment on this beginning allegory that is so rich in truths for our daily living if we’d but get past trying to make it literal. One just does harm to their common sense by trying to make everything literal as well as turning people off and away from embracing the spiritual truths.
