It’s not all said and done. The deal is not over. Man is not a static automaton. I’m amazed at how some people take the election doctrine so far as to totally abrogate any free will of man. God is not “up there” pulling our strings and making us behave. If He were, He’s sure not doing a very good job of it. Man is a “becoming human being” and God is right there with us all the way, encouraging us with His unlimited love.
God is not a dictator. Instead of divine dictation, God is luring, wooing, enticing, inviting, and constantly whispering to us what we can be! I can respond to that! In fact, I AM!
God is not the “unmoved mover” that many theologians and philosophers picture. God is relational. He created us under the Edenic covenant to have fellowship. It’s hard to grasp, but God wants to commune, talk, have conversation with, and think through us, each and every day. Each and every one of us makes a difference to God. You do! I do! We all do!
What we have to do to comprehend that is to slow down and listen!
The Houston bumper sticker that says “God listens” is but half of the picture. He’s also talking. The question really is, are YOU listening? And if you can say yes, then the follow up question is are you responding? You need to because God’s not going to yank your chain every hour to make sure you know who’s boss.
He already knows that! ![]()
