I am certainly not pollyanna about life, but neither do I see the universe as evil. We live in a SAFE world where lot’s of un-safe things happen: both by nature (can you say earthquakes?) and by we humanoids (theft, rape, murder, etc.). The GOOD NEWS though is that we have the choice, the FREE WILL, as to how we want to respond to the world.
You know that a car wreck on any given intersection can be witnessed by four people and each will give a different accounting of what happened.
In like fashion, what appears to be devastating to one is no big deal to another. If one wants to take a victim mentality into the day, you can sure find all of the evidence to support such a view. Life is unfair, others have so much more than you, and so on. On the same hand another person can begin the day with a gratitude for life, looking forward to what they might make of the day and the excitements of the unknown.
So it is with the Bible!
Some people see the Bible as a literal hand-written document from God and therefore everything in it is factual, true and without error. Therefore God comes across as a very harsh judge who can and did very bad things to people (I need not make a list of Old Testament terrors). Thus, their world view is one of walking on eggs, trying to BE GOOD, and working at earning the approval and love of God.
I’m not one of those.
I see God much like Jesus: Abba Father. God is merciful, loving, and full of compassion for ALL. God is unconditional love and God’s love for me doesn’t change day to day or even hour to hour as I do good things one moment and bad things the next moment. Under such a paradigm, life is GOOD NEWS!
From which paradigm are you viewing the world?

Good point Ernie regarding seeing God like Jesus did.
Thank God Ernie God has open my heart and mind to see the Bible has abook of love and grace,
Love Dan
GOOD NEWS is all around and that we are AWARE is just more proof of the divine that lies within ALL.
