Jesus was one of the worlds greatest MYSTICS!
With the exception of a few verses that we can attribute to Paul, he was a long ways from being a mystic: he was more like a reformed legalist. The church today is following Paul. And in way too many cases the church is following the local culture. I submit that we desperately need to get back to the mystical lifestyle that Jesus modeled, and there was no statement that depicted that any greater than “Abba Father“.
When Jesus cried out, as Paul quoted in Romans 8:15, Abba Father the earth had to shake! Vibrations had to resonate throuighout the universe with no star or galaxy untouched. What I am saying here is that too often we read this statement by Jesus and miss the magnitude of it’s impact.
Jesus was saying that He had a real live experience with God! That’s mysticism.
Jesus was saying that He trusted God, Father, Daddy, Papa.
And He was making a nondualistic statement. He and the Father were, and are, ONE! There was an intimacy between He and God. They were ONE (John 10:30). The Spirit of God had made His home in Jesus and us all. And then to take it even deeper into the mystical world, Jesus was indicating that the Kingdom was near in SPACE (among us) and of TIME (IS NOW among us).
Abba Father is one huge, comprehensive, and mystical statement!
