Must life be Trick or Treat (pun intended)? Can we find a middle ground? Please! In one camp we have those that are star-gazing and looking for the savior, the extraterrestial, the luminous, or something from outer space to swoop in and save our bacon from the frying pan. In the other camp are those who want the bacon to be fried- crispy! Sin and wanton lustfulness must be dealt with by swift judgment. May the holy God come and smite His enemies. Enough already!
We’ve seen enough of Moore’s Law in the past few decades to know that its founder (Gordon E.) was right on. The exponential growth in technological discoveries has pushed us into Murphy’s Law! The latter law not being a good thing.
Forget Either-Or! Embrace And-Also.
The world is not absolutist black and white. In fact there is more grey than any other operational color. It’s not an US vs. THEM. Enough of the division and duality that only enforces separation from one person to the other which is separation from God.
We don’t have to look “without” when ALL that we are and ALL that we need is WITHIN! Jesus isn’t coming back on a cloud from the East, nor touching down at the Bethany launch pad from whence He suppossedly ascended. The Spirit of God, Jesus, the incarnation is here with us, within us, without and throughout. God & Jesus are ALL in ALL!
Yes transcendent, but let’s focus on the immanent.
Let’s take off our various masks of fear, judgments, and hopelessness on this Halloween day and greet everyone with the LOVE of God: even those who let their kids wear evil masks and those who won’t let their kids be involved with such evil activities as walking around like demons collecting candy from door to door.
Put on and wear your “I AM” true self today.

I agree with you that we should be walking in the love of God, even towards those who don’t think or believe like we do. The good news to me includes the fact that we have the Holy Spirit to help us. In John 14:17, Jesus declared that the world cannot receive Him, (the spirit of truth), but He abides with us and lives in us. Therefore we are able to let our light shine before men in such a way that they may see our good works and glorify God. Perhaps offering candy to a trick-or-treater is a great way to accomplish that today.
Makes sense to me but there are some are offended by “participating” in what they think is the celebration of evil works. I’m not one of them. A day is what we make of it. Our candy, smile, and greeting just might do wonders beyond our comprehension.
This time we are in affords us the opportunity to allow God’s Spirit to flow in ways I’ve not known before. I see tremendous walls falling down, religious walls, and the people are those we see every day but are too quick to pass judgment on. This year I hope we let ourselves just be! Why not really try to notice the “humans” behind the make up and costumes this year. Enjoy a chance to get to know some new people, and say “HI” to some not seen since last year! Today starts the one year countdown to 10/31/08… where will you be then? Have some fun tonight and watch for the kiddos out there!
