Beyond Judging & Hating

God is love. Right? And we are children of God. Still okay? So, that means we’re to love and be love. Since A is B, then B is A, and they are one. Okay enough of that. Here’s what I’m trying to discover in me. Is there enough love in me to be able to share with everyone? We all know that we’re to love our enemies. It’s in the Bible. And it’s in the red (Matthew 5:44)! So, when can we get on with BEING who we’re called to be and quit judging and hating?

The New Jersey Supreme Court decision yesterday reminded me of how many things there are in our world that’s happening that I disagree with. I disagree with abortion, homosexuality, suicide bombings, etc. However, I have brought myself to where I really do love the people, and in many cases care deeply for them.

People are people wherever they are.

God is the only one who creates people. How can we hate those who He created? We do! So much of our problems come from picking and choosing from the Bible that which agrees with the prejudices that we hold- yes prejudices. As Gary Amirault wrote, “It’s unfortunate that most Christians’ beliefs are not based upon their own earnest study of Scripture and prayer, but upon simply believing someone else’s opinions.”

When we read the whole of Scripture, we simply find no ground for hatred or prejudice. When you read Gen. 18 (about Sodom and Gomorrah), be sure you follow that up by reading Ezekiel 16 wherein God says that Jerusalems’ sins (representing the church) are far worse than those of Sodom & Gomorrah. How can that be true? How indeed?

Let’s get beyond judging and hating. Whatcha say? :-)
