Who we run with in large part determines our destiny. I have always tried to out myself into the best of company and when I say that I am not talking about those categories that many would deem elite. I like to associate with people of integrity whose lives speak louder than words. I want to be with those who don’t need constant ego stroking, but more often than not know their weaknesses and work with them. I like people who live on the edge and constantly try to better the world for others- more than themselves. The choices we make of who we are around most of our lives, speaks volumes about whom we will become.
C.S. Lewis said it this way, “Every time you make a choice, you are turning the central part of you, the part of you that chooses, into something a little different from what it as before.” We know that! We just don’t do that.
How important it is to see who our children associate and run with. And how important for us to look in the mirror and ask ourselves the same question. Are we around complainers all the time? If so, we’ll soon become one. If we associate with those who feel disenfranchised, we’ll so become. And so on.
Who is it in your relationships that challenges you, even makes you mad? Who makes you think?
Too often in today’s world our egos want people who come into agreement with us, tell us how great we are, and encourage us to be ALL that we can be! You know, like the Marines. Better to find some friends who will encourage you to be who God has made us. Big difference. I’m thinking it’s possible to pull together a group of men and women who can be just that to one another.
Whatcha think?
