We Can Do It!

Jesus died for the church. But what is that thing called a church? It has become multiple “religions” and not what God wanted- my assessment. But we need not throw the baby out with the bath water. Karl Deutsch said, “The single greatest power we possess is the power to change! And? Continue reading ‘We Can Do It!’

I Am Everywhere!

The trouble with leaving an institutional church to join a home church is the same problem and cocnept of getting a divorce from your current wife to marry the other rich hunk or young hot thang! You see, wherever you go, you take YOU with you. It’s really impossible to go anywhere without that BOD of yours and your ingrained attitudes. Continue reading ‘I Am Everywhere!’

Transformation Not Reformation

That which Luther did not accomplish, maybe by the grace of God this generation can begin anew and not get side-tracked. I don’t know what the “vehicle” will be if not “vehicles“. We need everyone in the fight. As Jesus said, “If they’re not against us, let them alone”. We need everyone in this battle. Let’s not divide any more. Continue reading ‘Transformation Not Reformation’

Homo Sapiens or Homo Spiritus?

Dave Hawkins uses the term homo spiritus in one of his many books. I don’t know if it’s a valid word, but it sure makes a point for me. So much of what the institutional church is doing thse days is competing with the church down the street. And the offerings are getting wilder and wilder. This does not mean that the entertainment is bad, it’s good. But, the programs are all geared to uplifting and benefitting our humahood. Continue reading ‘Homo Sapiens or Homo Spiritus?’

Feeling Spiritual?

I don’t think so.

There are times when I feel that I am closer to God tha other times. There are moments when I think the anointing is with and or upon me. I have moments of ecstasy and dark night so the soul. But, to say that one feels spiritual, I simply cannot relate to that. The process of maturing in the Spirit isn’t an even acclerating line. It’s filled with pauses, surges, and dead spots! Continue reading ‘Feeling Spiritual?’

Under House Arrest?

I was watching the movie, Diary Of A Mad Black Woman recently. It’s produced by Tyler Perry who is just one incredible individual. In the movie Madea has to be put under house arrest which means she needs to wear an ankle monitor. Out of no where I heard this voice whisper, “she’s the church“. So, what’s it mean that the church is under house arrest? Continue reading ‘Under House Arrest?’

Google Me Up Pastor Scottie!

I grew up being “told” that it was okay to not have all the answers. It was a show of humility to say “I don’t know“. It all sounded so full of humility. Just one problem! I never heard anyone say they didn’t know! And not only did they not, NOT KNOW, they were the only ones with the right answers. So is the home church the solution? Continue reading ‘Google Me Up Pastor Scottie!’

What’s the life of a person worth?

What would one not do to save a life? I am talking about a physical life? It’s not something that can be calculated by most people. So, how in the world can we say what we’d be willing to pay to have a person give their life to Jesus publicly? Notice I didn’t say “follow” Jesus which is the most important thing. I am just asking what one might pay to have something “think” they might want to follow Jesus. Forget all of that, let me tell you what it has cost- the actually costs for a Christian salvation in America. Continue reading ‘$1,551,466 and Change!’

Allowed & Trained To Share

Too many churches in America are closed! Closed to new thinking, closed to differeing opinions, and even closed to being a part of the body. Paul introduced the “body metaphor” in Ephesians, but I’m afraid too many church leaders have forgotten that teaching. Continue reading ‘Allowed & Trained To Share’

From Prison To Freedom?

In 2006 I finally gave up on the idea that a CELL church would work for LRC. So, you might say that I left my prisons cell and have found freedom in breaking our Home Churches from the mother ship. Both work better when they are separate, but unified in His Spirit. Let me explain. Continue reading ‘From Prison To Freedom?’
