I have discovered a reason to crank up this web site again, or so I think. Who are these DISCIPLES that will somehow make a difference? Where will they come from and what will they look like? I don’t have all the answers but a few dropped into my Spirit recently. Most of all this “order of Spirit disciples” will be kind and loving to all beliefs- diversified, tolerant, and non-judgmental. Continue reading ‘It’s Been Awhile!’

I am spending the week of July 2-6 looking at the devastating impact of literalism and fundamentalism on ALL religions, but not on this web site. There’s information below for that. I mention this because in establishing an “order“, it can’t be one of comparison, competition, or ranking. It IS and it exists for the freedom of ALL to worship God as they please. It is fluid, flexible, and pourous. Here’s why. Continue reading ‘My Order Beats Your Order’
Have you heard this one before? “If you ever see a turtle sitting on a fence post, you can darned sure know he didn’t get there alone.” And, you’re not going to get very far either unless you have help along the way. The question is, do you know who can take you from one level to another? It’s a rare person that can take you ALL the way, although it is possible. So, let’s start with NOW! Continue reading ‘Who You Gonna Call?’
My early church training, even before I joined a church, was that I had a one way ticket to life. Unless I got saved, gave my life to God, and followed His ways, I’d not be able to return home to the Father. Instead I would be sent to hell for not just a short vacation, but for eternity. It scared the hell out of me and here’s what I did. Continue reading ‘Round Trip Tickets’
The older I get the more difficult my vision becomes and in fact it’s almost impossible for me to SEE true disciples of Jesus any more. I’ve fished in several “streams” of followers and it seems that they all have some cahrge, some fee, or something they want from YOU before they allow you the IN privledges. Continue reading ‘Where Are The Disciples?’
Jesus said, “Follow me“. Agree?
So, how did we get to this place where we are chasing after every philosophical whim and religious diatride? We have a lot of great philosophers who were sincere and who added much to our consciousness; however, they also gave us some bad advice that the church seems to be following all too frequently. Where are the learned men of old? Continue reading ‘Descartes & The Church’
Psychologists generally agree that change initially brings regression. We all want a new car, new dress, new job, new this and that, but please, don’t ask me to “learn” anything NEW! Don’t challenge what I now know, or think to be true, with some contrary, off the wall stuff. I’m just settling in. Sorry Charlie. Continue reading ‘A Spiritual Jailbreak’
When I meet someone new for the first time they usually inquire as to what to call me. Hey, that’s much better than the names I get called without my permission!
Should they call me pastor? Brother Ernie? My response is to ask what they called the Apostle Paul- simply Paul! I am sure someone called him brother Paul or apostle Paul; however, I don’t put a profession in front of a friend: electrician John or plumber David. And? Continue reading ‘We Are ALL Theologians!’
Most people have heard of Origen, but who the heck is this St. Vincent guy? He was a writer in Southern Gaul who entered the monastery of Lérins (today Isle St. Honorat), where under the pseudonym of Peregrinus he wrote his “Commonitorium” (434). Origen of course (185–254) was an Early Christian scholar, theologian, and one of the most distinguished of the early fathers of the Christian Church. And the point is? Continue reading ‘Origen & Saint Vincent Of Lerins’
Did you know that humility is a good thing? Being humiliated will do wonders for your character if you allow it. It can also send your ego into a traumatic crisis. It’s good to be reminded of our “clayhood” from time to time and here’s why I say that. Continue reading ‘Earthen Vessels’
