Ba A “Know-It-All”

This might come as a surprise to many; however, the Bible is clear that you can be uneducated and unsophisticated in theological matters and still be one of the smartest spiritualists on the planet. We send too many missionaries to so-called backward countries where the natives are more closely in sync with God than the missionaries. Amazing itsn’t it. Sad, really. But He’s A Muslim & She’s A Lesbian!

My, my how this shrinking world is bringing some new thought processes to our Christian paradigms. What’s a person going to do to remain pure when all up and down the street the neighbors are so strange. They’re strange in color, strange in language, and strange in the religions they practice. Where does one start to get them saved? And who told you that was your job? Continue reading ‘But He’s A Muslim & She’s A Lesbian!’

Separation Of Church & Hate

Don’t you think it would be a better idea to ditch the hate before we get too lathered up about concepts of separation of church and state? I mean it’s really not get PR to hold up signs saying that God hates fags. It really is bad PR and here’s what else isn’t all that good. Continue reading ‘Separation Of Church & Hate’

Happy New Year!

May you seek the Lord in 2007 like never before because HIS spiritual advice is never wrong!

Having said that, without some “human accountability” all spiritual advice is suspect. :-)

Ego Damage Control

“It is the customary fate of new truth to begin as heresies.” Thomas Huxley

We know this, we acknowledge the reality of Huxley’s statement, but our ego cannot help but fight the facts because such statements challenge the existence of our ego. The ego knows what it knows and what it doesn’t know it must deny or challenge the validity of that which is spoken against it. Why? Continue reading ‘Ego Damage Control’

Reading With Jesus

There are so many different ways that you can interpret the Scriptures. In fact you can easily make a case for differing positions in hundreds of issues. But, w can basically bring it all down to two primary rails on which to run. There is the “interpretation of varied texts“, and then there are the broader “theological themes”. Another way to say that is there’s a micro approach (verses) and then there’s the macro approach (major themes). It’s not an either-or, but an And -Also. However common to both is to read and interpret the Bible by reading “Jesus into it all“. He IS the WORD you know- unless John (Chapter 1) didn’t know what he was saying. How Then Should We Read?

Many times, early in my walk with the Lord, I asked advice from seasoned men about how I should read the Bible. What books should I read? I got lots of advice. Read one Psalm, one Proverb, and one chapter from the New Testament each day. It all sounded good. Oh yes, and which gospel is best? How does one determine that? Continue reading ‘How Then Should We Read?’

Fall Into Jesus!

My common spiritual advice is fall into Jesus as fast as you can. But, it’s not easy and there are no short cuts!

Paul reminds us in Acts 17:28 that it is IN JESUS that we move, live and have our BEING! And yet we think that somehow we can by advancements in science or through the education and reformation of society- change the world. Oh yeah! We can change the world all right and as Dr. Phil would ask, “How’s that working out for you?” Continue reading ‘Fall Into Jesus!’

Give It Up!

You’ve probably heard it a dozen times, “Let go and let God“. There’s probably a reason one keeps hearing it: we’re not doing it. For example, I used to think that transformation was something “I did“. What a laugh. It probably makes God smile as well. I mean if we could “do it” (transformation), why haven’t we? We can’t and here’s why. Continue reading ‘Give It Up!’

Tell Me What’s Really Important!

Most are not aware that the first general council of the church was early in the fourth century in a city located in Asia Minor. Most have heard of the Nicean Creed, especially if you’re Catholic. It was to be followed by the Apostles Creed and many others. Groups are still meeting today to hammer our creeds, statements of believe, doctrinal theses, and other such facts that do nothing to help us live! Continue reading ‘Tell Me What’s Really Important!’
