Christian Theological Grids

How much of what I believe is true, even close to being the truth? I sure wish I knew. What I do know is what I used to think has changed, and so that means what I now believe is subject to the shifting sands of my theological training. My tectonic religious plates and being disrupted, shifted, and sometimes totally destroyed. Here’s what I mean.

If you do a look back over the centuries you surely see what we once thought we no longer embrace. Who would stone their kids for being rebellious? Now it’s more like rebellious kids are stoned! Know what I mean? :-)
But, let’s just look back over the last few decades.

I grew up as a Baptist. Thank God for them, but there so much I was taught that neither I nor them embrace anymore. My Sunday school classes were segregated: girls in one room, boys in another. There was no dancing. And if you went swimming you had to have a place where there were two pools in the neighborhood: co-ed swimming was out!

One church in my town would only baptize girls one week and boys another.

I know that there are things I’m now believing that I should not. The difference between NOW and a couople of years ago, is that NOW, I’m more than willing and anxious to get rid of what’s not God.

How about you?
