Come On Down!

No, this isn’t the introduction to a TV Quiz Show, and I’m not Bob Barker! This Friday I am going to try and take a look at the panoramic view of the last 2,000 years and bring us BACK to where we started- which was good. But as for NOW as I write this, I’m reminded of what it’s like to fly at 50,000 ft. in a private plane: most commercial planes usually fully around 33,000 ft. or so. But, here’s the picture.

I can remember flying out of Denver (always an exciting airport to fly in and out of) one year and hitting one of those thunderstorms that race over the mountains and surprise everyone. The plane was rocking to and fro, twisting, jerking, and otherwise doing things that I thought went possible for aluminum structures.

Prayers become real! :-)

Once we got above the storm, I was reminded of a statement by Arthur Dewey that went like this, “Ancient eyes would expect heaven to be outside the window at this elevation. But from this modern chariot of the gods, where dreams are cast in aluminum and powered by jet fuel, there was no heaven, just a brilliant blue curving over the world.”

Built by the lowest bidder also! :-(

Those who lived nearly 2,000 years ago and wrote with artistic beauty in poetry and prose had no clue as to what either Arthur or I experienced. And I can only imagine what those who have traveled to the Space Station or to the moon must ponder and wonder.

Life has changed greatly- in just the last fifteen years with the advent of the internet. Science has turned religion on it’s head and make some of the religious language totally obsolete- other than the majesty of the prose itself.

The Kingdom isn’t in the eloquence of the words alone though.

It’s time for us to continue the adventure, to write anew, but more importantly, to LIVE right here on earth where the Kingdom of God IS: where YOU and I, and the Spirit of God co-exist.

We now KNOW (don’t we?) that God is not out there, neither is He an “Other“, but He is fully internalized to the degree that we allow Him to BE us! It’s the message of the Kingdom, it’s what Jesus came to reveal to us, and it’s what the church seems so very much afraid of for many self-serving reasons.

The action is right where you sit as you read this.

If you’d but commune with the One who IS your life!
