Consciousness!

This is the second half of my commentary from yesterday- Christ Consciousness. Consciousness is more than the brain and far more than the mind. We have both conscious, subconscious, and unconscious thoughts but none of those speak of our “consciousness“. Consciousness is ultimately undefinable as God is because God IS consciousness.. Since there are no words to adequately describe, nor frame a complete concept of God, think it not strange that there is no simple definition of consciousness. We can only attempt to articulate or elucidate some understanding or proximity (intellectually) of the God who describes Himself as I AM!

Saying that God is consciousness doesn’t invalidate also saying that God is abba Father!

It is in the extremism of both that we err. God is not a “super” person, nor a person at all, though God is a personality. Nor is God some wave, energy, electricity, infinite intelligence only- though God is all of those and more. God cannot be limited to those concepts or any concept. And yet we do limit God in many ways.

Confused yet? :-)

Sentience refers to utilization of sensory organs, the ability to feel or perceive subjectively, not necessarily including the faculty of self-awareness. The possession of sapience (to act with wisdom) is not a necessity. The word sentient is often confused with the word sapient, which can connote knowledge, consciousness, or apperception (introspection). The root of the confusion is that the word conscious has a number of different usages in English. Consciousness is not processing mental phenomena

Let’s move in on at least an initial “working definition”

Meister Eckhart got in the “cross-hairs” of Pope John XXII for saying that “God and I are one”. He was forced to recant or face the same fate of mystic Al-Hallaj, who was crucified for claiming an identity with God. But, doesn’t the book of Genesis say that we were created in the “image of God“?

Erwin Schrodinger put it this way, “Our perceiving self is nowhere to be found within the world picture, because itself IS the world picture”. Mankind is unique in that we are conscious of our consciousness- created in the image of God, spirit, and one “with-in-as” God. Each person is an individualization of God- one with God

God is pure consciousness. He is not material, physical, or limited in any fashion.

As we become ONE with God, as Jesus commended us to do, a sense of us and them, right and wrong (dualism) slowly fades from our daily life. The closest Christians and religion come to such a lifestyle is what’s termed moving from the flesh to the spirit. But even in so stating that we’ve created a duality.

So, here is my beginning working definition of Consciousness….. Out of no-thing came all things!

Consciousness is the eternal, timeless, and immaterial essence of all individuals that originates in God, predating birth and surviving death. Consciousness is a wave of the ocean of God, a ray of the sun of God, and an individualization (without separation) of the divinity of God. We are His image and His essence: one with the I AM!

Consciousness is that elusive “theory of everything” that Einstein was looking for: that all mankind is trying to articulate and understand.

God is Spirit and we are spirit beings housed in human material form- for the time being. The “mind of Christ” can now be better articulated by calling it the “consciousness of Christ“. Brain and mind are too objectified in our language in the 21st century, whereas consciousness is more “subjective” and out of our control! And, my how our egos hate that!
