For hundreds, thousands of years the church has been looked upon as the keeper of the truths, the holy grail, the place to go to have your spiritual thirst satisfied. If George Barna is anywhere close to reality, water is leaking out of the container very fast. What’s the problem? The boxes are no longer comfortable: they are closed and no light can get in!
Spiritual thirst and hunger are no longer being satisfied. It’s become all too obvious that the God that’s being preached from the pulpits has none of the DNA that Jesus describes.
Jesus opened the doors to ALL!
The church keeps drawing smaller and smaller circles. And, attempting to draw effective self-reformation immediately hits a wall of authoritarian deafness. To talk about “experiencing God”, loving everyone, “resisting not evil“, and all those principles that Jesus taught will get you an invitation to leave the fellowship: or stay and be isolated.
The church must get back to carrying the water of Jesus, that living water that bubbles up from within your belly- not that which originates in your head.
