Dance with Him

I know so much ABOUT God!

That’s a good thing considering I’m a pastor. Having a minister of the gospel saved and knowledgable of God is a good start to helping others do the same. But that’s all it is- a START!

In what I refer to now as a divine dance, I am finding that my “dance steps” are very awkward. I KNOW the STEPS; doesn’t everyone? But I am not in the FLOW. Knowing the Seven Habits, The Three Steps, The Five Principles, etc., ad nauseum will never GET you into an embrace with God where you dance divinely.

As I said to a group of men last night, every person and every denomination has it’s SIGNPOSTS (can you say theology). Let me illustrate by saying we have the signposts that lead to San Antonio. The signs say San Antonio 156 miles, San Antonio due West, San Antonio this way, and San Antonio three hours further. Our rooms (heads) are full of SIGNPOSTS, but no one is making the TRIP to San Antonio. Worse yet, no one really PLANS on GOING to San Antonio. We just want to know HOW to get there (can you say to God), in the event we need to in the future. Oh yes, and we want to be able to exercise our EGO by telling others that WE know HOW to get to San Antonio!

Knowledge of God is by and through communion, connection, and intimacy! We can’t KNOW God like we know an object (ie. a tree). We can’t prove God logically. It’s so easy to say we love someone, easy to say we love God, and an entirely different thing to truly LOVE GOD!

How about it? How about you? Isn’t it time to get on down the road (San Antonio?) from knowing ABOUT God and into the next step (of the dance), so that we can REALLY DANCE with Him- the lover of our souls?
