One of the greatest difficulties is to understand how love can be IMPERSONAL! Say what, a person asks when told that. If there is anything that is personal, it should be love, right? Ah, but that’s where we begin to miss the next bus transfer. God is SPIRIT. You can agree with John 4:24 can’t you. God created ALL. Are we on the same page so far? So then, we’re to love Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, atheists, and even our enemies. Is it beginning to get a little impersonal now?
God loves me at ALL times. God’s nature IS love and it’s unconditional.
Talk about something setting you and others free. Talk about not comprehending and living in spiritual liminal space. Maybe we should forget the talking and just start BEING- love. Too many are freaked out by fear, worry, anxiety, and a host of other “love limitors“. As Emmet Fox wrote, “When you love God more than you love your problem, you will be healed.” You’ll probably need to meditate and process that one for a few months. But, you’ll get it eventuallyIF you want.
Divine impersonal love can never fail. We have too many examples: old and new.
You can go into a furnace and live- literally!
You can go live among wild animals (where you have no fear, and complete impersonal divine love) as you see many do today: as was once reported in a lions den. Getting the picture? Impersonal divine love has to be in your HEART and not some mental construct in your head or your head will be a meal for whatever wild animal you test it. Begin with a small dog! ![]()
Mailmen (and women) who have that love, and no fear, don’t need to take mace with them on their route. The dogs instinctively know
And here’s the greatest discovery of ALL- in my book and what I’m desperately working on. Divine impersonal love HEALS! It’s been the secret, which is not so secret, of mystics for centuries. It’s not a new thing. Why could Jesus heal? He WAS divine impersonal love. You’ll know it when you begin approaching it because people will be changed when they enter your life- many will even be healed: emotionally and physically.
Let’s JUST DO IT! Get it! ![]()

I wish you could explain this one to me in a way I could understand. We talk about God having a sense of humor, thus personality. Also, He created us with an endless variety of personalities for His pleasure. So, maybe it’s just semantics, but how can a personable God love a personable man impersonably?
And-Also …………….Father (personal) Spirit (impersonal)
A very deep message. It might seem like a conflict at first–impersonal love vs. personal love–which is it?
But if you look at impersonal love as “being love” (kind of like “the ground of love”)then there’s no conflict–personal love, which is felt individually, comes out of the beingness of love itself.
