Don’t Take My Brick!

It seems that a day doesn’t go by when I don’t see in me or in someone else the Rob Bell, “Brickianity” mentality. Notice that I said “in me” as well. We are creatures of habit. Add to that the fact that the ego doesn’t like to feel challenged or threatened in any way, and “We have A Problem Houston.” The ego usually only agrees with what it has already thought. Or if there is something NEW, and it comes up with the idea first, then that’s okay of course. Ahh, the ego (or what’s called man’s will).

Who Wants Cheaper Insurance?

I am making progress. I AM being transformed!

Albeit it slower than I’d like.

If you just change a “word” the ego goes ballistic. Religion has it’s language just as attorneys, doctors, and all professions. I don’t speak “legal-eze” as attorneys do. I used to speak real “estate-eze”, figuring a persons PITI so they could decide if they could afford a home and such stuff. You know amortizing their loan-to-value ratio payments. :-)

For way too much of my life I spoke RELIGIOUSLY!

And I find as I move more into speaking SPIRITUALLY, the religious spirits have a problem with that, but not nearly as much of a problem as do individual egos. Consciousness is a word that mystics have used for thousands of years. Most Christians taught in traditional mainline churches prefer to say “spirit“. Churches not quite in the center, call it “knowing” with your “knower“. Whatever!

In the end, it all comes to to what’s in your heart. Who cares about the WORDS a person uses, care about the PERSON by demonstrating your love and offering others the freedom of expression that you’d like to be afforded.

Insecurities and religious trappings always come to the surface if the heart is not One with God and that is manifested with a fear of the unknown- even if just words. As Rob Bell pointed out in his book, The Velvet Elvis, if you take away a law, concept, religious tradition, or practice, regardless of how small, it feels like you’re taking down ALL of their belief systems.

Remove one bick and wall comes down.

Brickianity!

Maybe the WALL(s) needs to come down! :-)
