To prove that you love me, go rob a bank?
Who would say that? I mean what sane person would say that. Or for that matter, who would tell someone to drink poison or mess around with poisonous snakes? Once again, no one that I know of that’s sane.
Therefore, I can’t believe that Jesus (it’s in the RED) would tell his followers to do such just to prove that they love him and BELIEVE in him. Of course that’s an easy on for me on two other major points.
1-Mark 16:8-20 (where we find the statement) was not in the original manuscripts, but added much later. In other words, the “show me your faithfulness by doing something stupid” wasn’t written by Mark!
Man Luke basically copied 60-90% of Mark; however, when it came to that part of Mark, they didn’t add it.
Could it be that they were that much smarter 20-40 years later? Or could it be that when they copied the original manuscripts of Mark, those few verses weren’t there yet.
I know, it’s hard to believe that a perfect God would allow an imperfect Bible- if you are a fundamentalists of course, but that’s not me!
