Dualist Supernaturalism?
Did you know that’s what you believed? Well, maybe not YOU, but most Christians in America. So, you just might be in that mix after all. Dualism is the view that two fundamental concepts exist, which often oppose each other, such as good and evil, light and dark, or male and female. More specifically we embrace moral dualism which is the belief of the coexistence (in eastern and naturalistic religions) or conflict between the “benevolent” and the “malignant“. Most religious systems have some form of moral dualism - in western religions, for instance, a conflict between good and evil. And then there is supernaturalism.
Supernaturalism says that there is a mighty power OUT THERE or UP THERE somewhere and that entity or god intervenes in the course of natural laws or our daily life from time to time.
Bear in mind this was the religious church thinking 2,000 years ago before we had flown a plane, knew that the earth wasn’t flat, and could tell the difference between the moon, suns, and stars. In other words, this was the “religious thinking” before the inhabitants of this world became enlightened or knowledgeable about how the universe works.
Ahh, but much of the religious entities still hold fast to those 2,000 year old concepts!
Surely you know that God doesn’t have a mansion in the sky out there somewhere.
God is not a natural being with Superman powers sitting on a physical throne up there somewhere.
And surely you no longer believe that God came down from heaven in the form of Jesus!
Right?
The above were all the best thinking that those who came before us could muster up in conceptual thinking. And we who live more than 2,000 years later with the aid of all kinds of scientific development know better. We are wiser, smarter, and with an increased consciousness that makes us aware of what it means that “God is Spirit“. We understand that Paul was not “trinitarian“, that Luke knew nothing of an a so-called “incarnation“, and that Matthew’s best way of describing the diety of Jesus was through a virgin birth story.
So, why does the church still stay put in 2,000 year old concrete restraint blocks? It’s a question that begs for an answer don’tach think?
God, the Holy Spirit, the Kingdom of God is present with, in, and among us.
Now!
It’s time to be awakened to those spiritual realities!
