Myths are what our early and primitive world was built upon. Myths are primarily folklore or legends that a particular culture believes to be true and that often use the supernatural to interpret natural events and to explain the nature of the universe and humanity. I am not disturbed when similarities between pagan gods and Creator-Consciousness are mentioned. I embrace the ONE GOD, and I am a follower of Jesus, who became the Christos.
I am not a follower of:
>The Anointed One who was born December 25 to a virgin.
>The Lamb of God whose birth was in a manger, announced by a star in the east.
>The Good Shepherd whose birth was attested to by three wise men.
>The Teacher who was baptized at age 30.
>The Miracle Worker who performed miracles, walked on water, and raised the dead.
>The Fisher-Savior who had twelve disciples and was transfigured on the mount
You see, those six descriptions come from the many ancient Mystery schools and speak of an Egyptian deity that lived THOUSANDS of years before Jesus. His name was HORUS and he had a human body with the head of a falcon. I could list many more similarities (dozens); however, one of the most interesting is Horus was also called the Krst (pronounced Christ).
Many Christians get defensive when it’s mentioned that Jesus was NOT born on December 25th or that the date is a pagan holiday. Why?
Many ancient deities have December 25th as their birth date. Jesus isn’t alone in this nor do I believe Jesus was born on December 25th. The date has special significance because on Dec-21-22 we have the winter solstice (we have one coming Dec. 21, 2012 as well). On that date ancient cultures recognized that the Sun would stop it’s southward movement and for THREE DAYS it would remain still-stop. Then at the end of the third day the SUN would be BORN AGAIN (25th) and starting moving northward once more.
Strange similarities right?
Hundreds of years before Jesus, Horus, Mithras, and others carried forth common themes, but as Jonathan Phillips wrote, “One of the most absurd arguments ever advanced by Christian fundamentalists is that of accusing the Devil of ‘plagarism by anticipation’, of obviously copying the true story of Jesus before it had actually happened in an attempt to mislead the gullible”. Talk about misleading the gullible!
We need not be defensive!
Too many today have forgotten our origins, our history, and we live in cosmic ignorance. The Buddhists and Hindus call it maya (illusion), Plato called it the cave shadows, and Neo called it the Matrix. Whatever it’s been, an awakening is underway. An exponential jump in consciousness is coming, and we need to affirm what we believe by recognizing our true IDENTITY.
We are spiritual beings, sons and daughters of God, a ray of the Light. I AM!
“an awakening is underway. An exponential jump in consciousness is coming, and we need to affirm what we believe by recognizing our true IDENTITY.”
I fully agree with you on this. Your knowledge of history is amazing. However, that’s what happens when you “major” in it as I can attest. Too bad that “others” will not explore it as well but maintain the attitude that there is only one revelation and it is contained within the confines of a book of 66 books. Thanks for
In the New Testament, the word muthos (SC 3454) is mainly used to denote a lying fable with all its falsehood and all its pretenses used for the purposes of deceiving people. In 2 Tim. 4:1-4, Paul warns Timothy to preach the true word “for the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance with their own desires; and will turn their ears from the truth, and will turn aside to myths.”
Jesus did openly declare in the synogague He has been anointed to preach the gospel to the poor and set the captives free (Luke 4:18) He also stated He was the “good shepherd who lays down His life for the sheep.” (John 10:11)
When I was in elementary school there were things I learned to help me to understand the world around me. I know 1+1=2 and see Jane run, run Jane run. This was crucial to my development. I needed those books to survive in an ever increasing world of knowledge.
Now those truths are still the foundation in which I am writing and doing business today but one must know that even though I know this I have surpassed far above that level.
I can not keep drinking the milk of the word when I am hungry for food.
I have the foundation.
I have been to middle(indentity crisis) and even high school(preparing for higher learning). I have been in college learning new terminology and learned how to reason with and tolerate different cultures finding the similarities and not losing my indiviuality. Now I am doing my internship I am practicing what I have been reading about all these years learning how to fit book knowledge in to practical everyday practices.
I’m learning that there are short cuts to get to the conclusions but could not do it with the foundation.
Does that make me less of a professional? no, It makes me smarter. It helps me to co-create.
It helps me to invent new paths for the others behind me(greater things will you do in my name).
On this level… I have no time for my elemenary teacher to come and sit me down and say that I have forgotten the basic books and foundations, Well i have forgotten them because they are now written on my heart. When I was a child I spoke as a child but when I became grown I put away childish things.
Wow, that scripture (2 Tim. 4:1-4) was certainly fulfilled by most of the mainline denominations during the 1900″s!! I am so glad we have finally broken free of ‘wanting to have our ears tickled’ and teachers who ‘teach in accordance with their own desires’. We have truly turned aside from believing myths and are now free to believe what the Spirit is saying! We live in the best of times!
Cynthia- Said with wisdom that only comes from “living life” by the SPIRIT and not by the LAW! You go girl!
>Could it be that I AM the Anointed One that gives birth to that which I intend by not looking to an external thing for my good?
>Could it be that the manger in which this Christ Consciousness was birthed in my life represents all that the world would qualify as “bad”? The manger story after all is the story of how the most unlikely circumstances in our lives are the catalysts by which we experience Christ.
>Could it be that my innner wisdom and intuition bears witness to that which I AM conscious of being?
>Could it be that whether consciously or not, I teach that which I must ultimately learn?
>Could it be that I AM the conduit by which miracles naturally occur?
>And could it be that I AM the Fisher who seeks in Consciousness for the thing desired by knowing that I AM is the Lord, and besides Me there is no other?
Cynthia, the Bible assures us a firm foundation is essential. Strong meat is for those who have had their senses trained to discern good from evil. (Hebrews 5:14). Hebrews 6 explains that the writer is speaking about the necessity of continuing in the goodness of God’s word.
Ellen, 2 Tim. 4:1-4 comes right after Paul’s admonition to Timothy to “continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them; and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” He concludes that all scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching that equips God’s people. Paul’s exhortation is not just to be lead by the Spirit (which he was) but also to remember the truths God has spoken for many centuries.
Linda, I don’t understand. Are you saying our foundation is not firm and our senses are not trained?? How are you able to judge that? Further, are you saying I have forgotten the truths of God?? I will not assume that you are hurling scripture at us out of a judgemental, self-righteous spirit, even though that is how you are coming across. Please explain what your heart is in your response to us.
Ellen, my heart is to see God’s people walk in truth. Every bondage starts from believing a lie. So, my desire is to see people set free from any lies that might snare them. Many of the things I’ve heard in the last few years are not from the Spirit of God. They are deceptions that come in the form of philosophies. The scripture that comes to mind is Colossians 2:8, “See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.” For example, when someone tells you that the Father didn’t require the blood of Jesus to forgive sins, that is a philosphy that negates the truth of Isaiah 53:10, “But the Lord was pleased to crush Him, putting Him to grief; if He would render Himself as a guilt offering.” It throws away all the groundwork God laid showing He is a holy God who cannot accept sinful mankind without a perfect sacrifice, as evidenced by the many requirements of Old Testament offerings. Jesus said it was not His will, but the Father’s for Him to go to the cross (Matthew 26:39,42)
Ah, but we fail to see in that mystical scripture that I AM the Lord, and in the face of that Divine Presence, our identification with the body must seemingly be crushed, put to grief, and ultimately surrendered, so that the glory of who I AM may truly be revealed.
Linda, I wish you Love from bottom of my heart to the depths of my soul. I wish you joy unspeakable, Peace beyond understanding and the burden of having to save everyone from hell and damnation lifted from you.
“I plant the seed, Apollo waters and God gives the increase”, you can not do it all and you will not see it all, we are are just a part of a big puzzle. Collectively for one purpose bigger than our own.
Either you are a glutton for punishment or You really feel that God would put you in this position of throwing pearls to ‘swine’, either way it is not healthy or wise; can you say dysfunctional .
You are clearly called but somewhere else. To people who want to hear what you have to say.
If you choose to be combative as you have I will definitely step out of this egoic/arrogant sparing ring because this is not love. God is love. Ernie is not a referee he is the moderator.
I admit that I got caught up in this cloud of debate and I will take this too far so I stop now I feel this is not profitable b/c you will never see pass your 2 books and see us as your friends, instead of those ‘unsaved deceived people’.
For it is the goodness of “GOD” that leadeth a man to repentance, not you. I am truly saying this in love.
Though I speak with the tongue of men and of angels but have not love then.. I AM nothing
Love Cynthia
Wow! Cynthia, you are truly touched by the love of God. I wish I could be as tender with Linda as you. I can only guess it is the spirit of a teacher in me that longs to have Linda know that we do not need her spirit of correction, judgment and condemnation; that we do not need her attempts to beat us down with her book and references and concordances. Most of the commenters here are in general agreement with Ernie and his posts. I can only assume that Linda gets some sort of satisfaction from being the suffering “martyr” or “saint”. It is something I simply cannot understand. I will continue to comment here and strive to be more like you, Cynthia with those who contend against our beliefs and ideas.
