Genetically Evil?

I’m close to doing a multi-part commentary on Satan; however, until then, let me address this issue called EVIL! How many view on evil are there anyway? Let’s review a few. Evil is necessary that man might be able to exercise free will. Without evil, how would we know what is good? Evil is the result of man rebelling against God. Evil is just an illusion, there is only one power. But of all the explanations for evil, the story of Adam and Eve (even by those who do not take it literally) is still at the top of the charts. Amazing!

I can explain evil on in five letter word- H-U-M-A-N!

It’s what humans, homo sapien sapiens do! What’s so hard about that? But, to say that I do evil because of something that this allegorical, non literal man, called Adam did 6,000 years ago is really a stretch in logic.

I prefer what one much closer to the time of Jesus than I said. That would be Origen. He put it this way, “These passages (Genesis), by means of seeming history, though the incidents never occurred, figuratively reveal certain mysteries”. And then I like what Richard Smoley said, “Obviously God did not get mad at the human race because somebody ate a piece of fruit in Armenia six thousand years ago.”

Wow! But many do believe that. :-(
God help us for putting all this junk on you!
