God’s not a He! God isn’t a She. In fact, God isn’t a BEING at all. I know that is hard to grasp for many, and down right heretical for most fundamentalists. He’s not THERE anywhere. If God were a BEING, we’d have to put God in some one place; however, God is not anywhere. God is everywhere!
When we say God is omnipresence, we’re giving ourselves a clue. Pay attention.
As a Christian who has grown up in this Western culture, I am comfortable in calling God abba Father; however, while I emotionally relate to those words, intellectually and spiritually, I know He’s NOT either (He or father). God is not a gender, God is Spirit.
John 4:24 affirms and is about as clear as one can get. The ASV (American Standard) and a few others continue the objectification of God by translating that verse as “God is A Spirit”. Putting the “a” there objectifies; however, most translations simply say what is truth, “God IS Spirit”. Let me give credit to the NKJV which corrected the KJV on this point and verse.
Why doesn’t the church correct it experientially?
