God Loves The World

How is it that we came into such duality that wew see everything as us vs. them? How did that happen? Going futhere all that is material is evil and only that which is spirit is good. Didn’t God create this world and tell us that it was GOOD? Is that too Old Testament for you? There is a strong and long history of trying to separate oneself from the world. Let’s take a look at that.

We begin the CE with the Desert Fathers: Anthony and crew would have nothging to do with the world and went into seclusion. They were followed by one monastic group after another. The Gnostics, Cathers, and so many monasteries one can’t keep track. They all found the world as unpleasant. Strange that God found it good and they were seeking God, but in opposition to His proclamations.

“For God so loved the world…..”

Richard Smoley put it this way, “”Salvation became the property of an exclusive elect, and all those who fell outside the charmed circle were dismissed as lost, evil, or even subhuman, to be kept at arm’s length lest they contaminate believers with their wickedness.” It’s still a far too prevailing thought of religion in America today. Sad!

Such an attitude ultimately fosters a fear, hysteria, and or paranoia for those who are not in “our circle“. They are put in the “worldly category” where darkness looms. A category that God is trying to reach. Why can’t we see that? Why can’t we see that WE were ONCE as THEY? And, maybe in our judgments, we are even now worse?

It’s ALL God!
