Google Me Up Pastor Scottie!

I grew up being “told” that it was okay to not have all the answers. It was a show of humility to say “I don’t know“. It all sounded so full of humility. Just one problem! I never heard anyone say they didn’t know! And not only did they not, NOT KNOW, they were the only ones with the right answers. So is the home church the solution?

Who Wants Cheaper Insurance?

How did I make that transition you ask? Pretty simple.

My friend, Ron Corzine, told me this morning that Richard Rohr had messed with so much of his religious paradigms last week that he wasn’t sure about anything. That was mostly in jest; however, the grains of truth that run through it are poignant enough.

So many of us don’t even know WHAT we’re looking for. Google has proven that. How many times a day do you type in 2-3 words and hope to find “something” that will lead you to an answer to a question you aren’t sure of?

The institutional church has proven to be the opposite. It gives us answers to questions we’re not searching for. What can you get out of a 20 minute homily or a 60 minute sermon? Sometimes something rich. But how much more pertinent is it when you can ask questions -YOUR QUESTIONS?

In a home church setting that’s possible!

At LRC, the floor is always open to questions. They’re far more important than statements: in real life!

Just a thought! :-)

Answers bring closure. The only healthy answers are those that lead to more questions. Isaiah states “that it is He that sits upon the circle of the earth”. That CIRCLE speaks of His never ending nature and ways. No beginning, no end….Hello Alpha and Omega. Putting God in a BOX is the art of having ALL the answers. His ways are far above ours…….all of his ways are past our finding out. Besides, the word question comes from the root word “quest”. What an adventure! Enjoy the journey! “There is a God and I am not Him.” For me it is a peace that passes all understanding.

The QUEST for transformation? Sounds like a personal problem. And please none of that “metamorpho” (what it means in the Greek-stuff). I’m doing just fine. I’m already an INCLUSIONIST. You know I include all catterpillars and tadpoles. We are being comforted by the comfortable. No affliction here. We’re doing great! I know it says, Jacob I created; and Israel I formed……..but that’s Old Testament. So I’m on the alert……….We are under a Heretic Warning Advisory.
