He is Knowable

It’s impossible to read the Bible with complete objectivity and yet we fashion a lot of our arguments along that genre of debate. I wish God would have made this walk we call ‘Christian’ a bit more simple. Following up on a couple of thoughts from yesterday’s commentary, God is real! I don’t know how to exactly explain that; however, even though He is Spirit, He is KNOWABLE: and He wants to BE KNOWN!

Who Wants Cheaper Insurance?

We are told up front however, that getting to know Him would not be a walk in the garden- even if it was Eden. He’s not going to stand in front of the mirror for you. And He doesn’t want a half-hearted effort from us when it comes to seeking Him. So then, is there little wonder why we can’t find Him: the knowable God?

Marcus Borg nails it when he says, “Life with God is not about believing certain teachings about God. It is about a covenant- a relationship.” We begin by becoming aware of where we are NOW as Tolle would say. Why? God created us, has been watching over us, and speaking to us even before we had heard of the word “salvation”. Yes, He’s speaking to those that even deny He exists. But, that’s another story.

For those that profess Jesus as Lord and Savior, there has to be some recognition on our part that we’re in this deal of life with Him, but how involved do we want Him to be? And we have to be “intentional” in the daily communion. For some, such a statement is barely comprehendable. So, do you want to KNOW Him more or not?

I submit that IF YOU DO, then He’s willing to meet you more than half way. However, you have to get up, get dressed, and take those first few steps. Why not begin March 1? Why not make a special effort to break some old habits! Start with what they call Trash Wenesday in New Orleans; the day after Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras), and transform it into what it really is- Ash Wednesday. Dedicate March 1 to April 16th to getting to KNOW God more intimately.

Do you have some better you could do?
