So, is God gay? How far do we want to take the anthropomorphic paradigm anyway? The first chapter of Genesis says that we were created in the image of God. So what’s that mean? Is God a MAN as Mormons contend believing God is just an exalted man, who has “a body of flesh and bones”. When you logically examine some mainline Christians beliefs that’s the conclusion.
Since we have both male and female humans here on earth, how’s that work with God then?
The term hermaphrodite comes from the name of the minor Greek god Hermaphroditus, son of Hermes and Aphrodite. Recently, intersex has been used and preferred by many such individuals, encouraging medical professionals to use the term. Do we simply see God as androgynous with both male and female characteristic that he (is God a HE?) divided up in humans? Or does the physical image not enter the picture at all?
God is SPIRIT. God is LOVE. God is not a man- not even a “super” man.
We, me, you, and us are spirit beings. We have a divine nature within our physical bodies. We are multidimensional beings. We’ve come from the “Other” and we will return to our original vibrational energies once we shed the dense, low vibration bodies that we now inhabit; however, we can be a part of BOTH life styles, here and now. In order to do that we need to evolve out of our primarily human consciousness and into more of a Christ consciousness (mind of Christ). Eventually we’ll arrive at the Father-Consciousness that is our ultimate inheritance.
Don’t fret or labor, it’s going to happen!
I need the human picture and understanding of a ‘Father-God”; however, to take that too literally will cause problems none of us need. The GOOD NEWS is that we can keep God as Spirit which he is and yet comprehend him from our plane of being, level of living, by knowing the life of Jesus, who became the Christos that we ALL WILL one day- maybe not in this dimension, but in the next one for sure.
Who knows, maybe one day we can accept-love gays and lesbians as much as we do adulterers.
Think maybe?
I agree that God shows Himself as our Father, which was a name Jesus used. He’s the Father who provides manna in the wilderness (Exodus 16). Like any good father, He’s the champion who fights for His children when they’re being persecuted (Jeremiah 20:11). Jesus also revealed the sorrowful tenderness of a grieving mother when He declared, “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling.” In these passages, we are privileged to feel the heartbeat of a vast, huge God who willingly accepts us as His own.
I also believe that in Genesis when God initially created man. He did not mean a male man or a female man. The two were one. The actual putting to sleep and rib removal as we have been taught to believe is a seperation of the one into two. And is was not a rib that was removed. The operation was much more complicated. Even to the point of giving woman the emotional, intuitive side of the relationship. Women given the responsibility to close their mouths and allow men to lead and develope power and rulership skills.
That has changed as of recent and 30 years ago women began to open their mouths and Identify with thier male side. Perhaps a little too much causing friction between the two. This ushered in the feminine movement. Men are expressing emotions and coming into balance with the feminine side. It is all a part of the evolution. Ultimately we will discontinue the power struggle between the sexes and live in peace together on earth. It is important that we move back to a position of balance even as there is no identity crisis in God. No skism or power struggle between Father, Son, or Spirit, all are one.
And the Mayan fourth sun that we’re now in moving to the fith sun come December 21, 2012 speaks of a BALANCE between male and female- that’s long over due.
Linda- You said, “I agree that God shows Himself as our Father, which was a name Jesus used.” If you agree that the God of the Bible is the God which Jesus called Father. What kind of father would destroy untold thousands as he is quoted to have done in the OT. What kind of Father would condemn 90% of his total creation to a eternal hell. If we believe God is the perfect Father, you can’t believe he would do the things which Christians say he did and will do. This only leaves you which one conclusion, maybe the best image we can envision is not one of “Father”.
God is el shaddai the many breasted one, also God made man( one who is able to think) in His own image( not male, not female)….then later gave man a form, only then is there definition of sexes and then sometimes not. If we are truly spirit then we are not what our form is.
By the way I have never seen a women not speak or shut her mouth;) ask Eve we were always intended to be speakers and negotiators then came ego and ‘physical seeing’ eyes were opened, as the spiritual pretty much died. still women were still speakers and we haven’t stop yet, Speaking was the intended blessing/asset to our male/female partnership in running the domain; ruling over her was the curse to the man. How can you tame the untamable?
